Shoe Dog is a book written by Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike, one of the world's top leading shoe brand. The book was worth quite a fortune in terms of price but its worth every single penny as its educative, inspiring & entertaining all at the same time. So I'd love to share some of the lessons I learnt in the book and they include:

  1. Find a Higher Purpose for Yourself.

If you stay focused on your goals and chase your dreams earnestly, you'll eventually achieve all of them; but in the end what matters most is the why you started the business. Why do you do what you do? If its just for making money then someday when you make the money you'll run out of business. You've got to find what drives you; because that's what will keep you going through the tough times.

2.   Build a Great Team.

Your team is everything; the people you surround yourself with and the people you share or discuss your ideas with matter a lot. Surround yourself with the right people and watch yourself grow; surround yourself with the wrong people and you'll find out your dying slowly.

3.   Learn How to Raise Capital for your Business.

As an entrepreneur you need to master the art of raising capital for your business if not you'll most likely run out of business anytime soon.

4.   Business Growth is Imperative.

Its either you grow or you die - that's the mantra of life. The moment you stop growing you start dying. You've got to grow your business, grow your life, relationships, goals, aspirations, etc. Growth is a must for success.

5. Think Long Term.

In whatever you do in business, life, relationships and all other aspects of life, always think long term. Think about the long term effects of your actions on yourself and the your world. If you do things just to gratify the immediate, you'll end up realizing that you made irrational decisions that  affect your life negatively.

All in all Shoe Dog was a good read & I'll recommend it to anyone; you can buy the book on Uduaa and have it delivered to your doorstep in Uyo.
