Not Every Place You Fit In Is Where You Belong

Looking closely at the image of garlic above, it can be observed that a tangerine slice fits perfectly into the crevice of the missing clove in the garlic. From the picture, it looks as if this is where the tangerine slice belongs because the slice fills the vacancy.

The question is should it remain there?

The available space in the garlic might look perfect and accommodative; however, this is not where both the slice and the garlic head best suited and appreciated.

This illustration is just a form of metaphor for our lives. Some of us are just like the tangerine slice and often time we do not recognize that fact until we pay more attention to our own situations and circumstances. Becoming satisfied and contented with our current situations is very easy, and might seem suitable for us. Sometimes, some excuses in form of;

i. Our friends, romance or certain relationship that holds us from pursuing a desire.
ii. Our place of birth doesn’t make us feel welcomed/secure
iii. The university or college might fail to create a comfortable environment for us to strive in.

All of which might make us confine ourselves to where we fit in and not seek where we belong, even where we aren’t happy.

On the other way round, some of us are like the head of garlic, missing something very important and somehow seeking for a way of filling the vacancy. In the same way the slice of tangerine is missing from its whole, the head of garlic sought its clove. This head of garlic certainly isn’t meant to be completed by the slice of tangerine, and is allowing this unnatural fit for reasons unbeneficial to itself.
Some of the reasons could be for maintenance of friendship or relationship maybe because of sympathy or whatever it is.

The combination of the head of garlic and that of the tangerine for whatever reason is very wrong, just as we sometimes do.
Reflect and think about your current situation, take some moments to think about it, then ask yourself;

i. how did I get to where you are currently?
ii. what is the reason I am here right now?
iii. how long will I stay here?
iv. I’m I happy here?

Your answer to the questions above and many more will show which side you are actually. Whatever your answers or discoveries are, always remember that you have the power to do what benefits you and make you happy. Just by trying to fit in to some situations and places, we are disallowed from discovering where or with whom we “belong.” We must break free of these patterns and seek out what will help us to become whole.
