On Steemit, there are No Password Recovery and you should do your Introduction Post.
Today we will be talking about Password protection and writing your Introduction post. These two are very crucial aspects of starting out in Steemit. Some may beg to differ, but majority will agree.
Protecting your password means, you value your account and doing your introduction post means you want to be part of the community.
Backup your password
It will be worthy to note that the Steem Blockchain is not like the centralized web services and for that single difference it has no account password recovery.
However you can change your password through your wallet page as shown below, but you will not be able to recover a lost password.
You are entirely responsible for keeping your password, and keeping it secure.
Save your master key and keep it somewhere safe.
Many of the new users we have introduced to Steemit are lectured on the importance of their password. Most are not familiar with these alpha numeric stringed password and many have ignored the [email protected] emails and some deleted it all together.
Telling your new recruits about saving their password and also protecting it is one of the first step into getting them set for the steemit adventure.
On the Steemit FAQ page this is what it says about saving your password.
It is strongly recommended that you store an offline copy of your password somewhere safe in case of a hard drive failure or other calamity. Consider digital offline storage, such as a flash drive or burned CD, as well as printed paper. Use a safe deposit box for best redundancy.
Many of the users coming through @stach are advised to treat their passwords like they would their ATM cards and pin.
If your account is valuable, treat it like a valuable!
Your introduction post.
Here on Steemit it has a tag that right now seems to be one of the hottest given that new users are being registered every 5 to 20 minutes and for most of the well established Steemians, who are looking for Gems, they visit this tag very often. We do that too and hope to give that incredible author a nudge in the right direction.
As a new user you should as matter of importance create your Introduce Yourself post and make sure to include introduceyourself as the first tag. That way you are seen and given a rousing welcome to the community that is always ready to help you mine your earning.
Although, steemit doesn't require you to do an introduceyourself post, it is a seriously practiced tradition for new users to create an "introduceyourself" post, to let the community know who you are. So when next you are giving a new recruit the tour of Steemit, tell them to do their introduction post.
At the Hub, we have had some of these new recruits write their introduce yourself post here and we are glad they enjoyed it and more recruits will be coming in to do same and we will make sure to keep them informed.
- How do I write the post?
It is not required, but to give the community the impression that you are a real person, a user can take a picture of themselves holding up a piece of paper that says "Steemit" with the current date. Steemit is an interesting community so getting to do that makes it more interesting. See an example of what we did today at the Hub.
You can also spice things up by first post by sharing with your social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. That way your friend from those platform can know where you are and what you are getting yourself into and even come join you here on Steemit. The more the merrier.
It is not required either, but if you have other social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) you can help the community verify that you are who you say you are, by sharing the link to your Steemit introduceyourself post with those accounts. If you are claiming to be someone famous, this is pretty much expected.
