It's time to reveal some Quarry secrets! Some of you already know how to hit high in the leaderboard pretty consistently (looking at you Sarozz!), but I'm sure there are many of you out there thinking 'How does he do it?!' -- Well, read on my Quarriors! Read on!
UP-VOTING / POSTING
Timing
The time of day matters, always. This is true for every social media platform (Facebook and Reddit being good examples). In Quarry, this phenomena is increased because of the Quota limitation.
Simply stated: Every Quarrior's quota is refreshed on a static schedule. So, if timing up-votes and posts for before the quota refresh occurs can guarantee a nice lift to your posts. This, however, is countered by the time of day in which users are most likely to be browsing Quarry for news. In the USA, this is most often after lunch time (12:00 to 3:00pm) and before bed (8:00 to 10:00pm).
Quality Over Quantity
Spamming up-votes and posts won't help you. Up-voting quality content and sparking discussions is one of the keys to getting continual up-votes and lasting buzz on posts.

Followers
Put your following to work! Give them interesting things to read and discuss. This one should be a no-brainer.
Stakes
This is the most easily influenced factor. The more ROX held, the more stakes received when up-voting and posting. The main reason @Sarozz has such a high proficiency for getting onto the top 5 of the leaderboard daily is due to the high amount of Locked ROX he has.
Where did he get those?
He linked his steemit account, which had a relatively large amount of Steem Power, to Quarry. In essence, he's a whale, and whatever he up-votes will receive a large amount of influence in the calculation.
