Take the Wins and make the best out of every opportunity

The best part about being a Steemian is that I get to challenge myself every day. I feel a certain kind of weirdness when a day goes by without dropping something on Steem land. I feel like it’s my responsibility to compose quality and grow the stocks of this platform and for that reason, I thank Steem for giving me the opportunity.

Steem gives us numerous ways to earn and one of them is through participating in contests. I participated in a contest hosted by @yoodoo(formerly @oracle-d) and was fortunate to be among the top five through the review of KnownOrigin. In the review, I talked about the creators of the Dapp, the benefits, shortcoming and also compared it to Shutterstock, a centralized platform that offers similar service.

This review opened my eyes to a new form of marketing that I encourage other writers and promoters to use. The idea is to get an angle, then compare the less known Dapp to a more popular application and hope for the best. If you’re lucky, you might get a response from either of the Dapps but what is certain is that you will make a lot of people look at your article.

Ethical Clickbait

The title is, therefore, a very important tool in attracting people to your post. In the past, I use to arbitrarily pick titles but as time went on, I started being conscious about it. I’ve found that the title of an article has a strong influence on the traffic that it’ll generate. Remember when I talked about comparing the less known Dapp to a more popular alternative? Well, the thing is, when people see your title, they become unconsciously interested in what the hell is going on and then check it out. Your title can be Ethical Clickbait

I’ve been active on social media lately and trying to increase my followers through organic engagement and interactions. It’s proven to be a masterstroke and I encourage everyone to give it a shot. Get on Twitter, meet like-minded people and simply interact with them. It is a very subtle but effective way to peddle information and grow your followers as well. Find your interests and talk about them as much as possible.

My time on Steem has given me a lot to be grateful for. Despite earnings drastically reducing in the past months, I have tarried because I simply love it here. I like the fact that my content has value, even if its 12cents. I like that it can be important and contribute to a cause bigger than me.

Through participation on this platform, I have learned about a bunch of platforms and software that I normally wouldn’t have known. The knock-on effect was that I learned a thing or two about myself in the process. I found that there are certain applications and concept that I easily wrap my head around and that I could express myself in a certain kind of way that reaches out to people and help them connect with whatever I’m writing about.

Employment has really been a big issue for me and in the past few years, I have been applying for different kinds of jobs. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and by June of this year, I’ll be adding a Masters in Aerospace and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education; I’ll be a very educated unemployed youth and that has really been bothering me. Steem has opened the door to content creation by giving me a “career” of sorts in the freelance category and my posts here are my portfolio. I’m open to working in either Engineering, Teaching or copywriter role, so if you know of any openings, please let me know.

I keep hoping for the best and even though things may be hard right now, I’ll take the wins whenever and wherever they come. I appreciate winning this contest and I look forward to participating in other contests like this. Thank you for the opportunity.

I can’t close without doing a shout out to the @comedyopenmic crew who have come back with a Christmas edition of the program and an opportunity to get with the funnies. You can follow the #comedyopenmic tag on Steem and also make your own post. There are virtually no rules and all you have to do is be funny. Here’s a link to the call to jokes.

I wish to join any contest here and everyone can join and enjoy with the contest too. Hope i'll be one of the winners soon. Giving a contest is a nice way to promote our Steemit website and can give us the chance to have many members as well. And the members here will enjoy the activity as well.

Holy shit, there are no rules? Here I was following them and for what?
