About 20-25% of the visitors to State of the DApps are from China, possibly more including those using VPN services, privacy shields or Brave browser. We'd like to make information about DApps more accessible the non-English speakers, starting with the Chinese speaking audience.
Doing internationalization (i18n) is a non-trivial undertaking. Not only do you need to modify your webstack to support this (we use nuxt-i18n), also your webdesign needs to be more flexible to different text & font sizes. The more languages you add, the more overhead there is for keeping all translations up to date. This is why we are going to only add the Chinese language at first, but hope to support more languages (Korean, Russian and Indonesian come to mind).
Through Steem and with the support of the Steem community we might have found a way to scale translations and reward the effort by volunteers. (Do you have a suggestion how to best set this up? Please let me know.)
Do you speak Chinese? Here is how you can help & get rewarded:
- Identify a yet untranslated English word or sentence on one of the following URLs, that hasnt been commented on by others:
Post a comment below with the URL, English word or sentence and Chinese (simplified) translation. You can combine multiple translations in a single comment, or link to an external document if appropriate.
If we like your translation, we will upvote your comment and possibly send you additional STEEM depending on the number and quality of translations. This upvote / reward might come from a different account.
At this moment we are NOT looking to translate any other pages besides the above URLs. Also don't translate DApp names, taglines, tags, descriptions, names of persons / companies. If you have any questions, please ask to be sure.
