Introducing Nemo
Nemo is a minnow, he just came into the sea and it is a bit lost. He is alone, confused and he is in search for friends. Life in the sea can be a bit intimidating, the ocean is very very big. There is a lot of talk about whales and how powerful they are...Nemo hopes to be friends with the whales.
Nemo learnt that as a new fish in the ocean, he has to announce to the world his arrival by using the tag #introduceyourself and #introducemyself to tell the world some basic background about himself. If Nemo is a a writer, he should say so, if he is a dancing fish he should say so, if he is a drawing fish, he should say so, if Nemo is good for nothing, he should just keep that as his little secret. The trick is try to appear the most cool fish in the ocean so that he can find more friends and so that his new friends know something about him.
Nemo also learned that in the ocean, people will be your friend if they know how you look like. Noone wants to be friends with at 'catfish'. So, in the first post it would be preferable to have your own photos and if it can be accompanied by a picture of you holding a card that says 'joined Steemit on the (date) and @(username)' would be the best authentication.
Developing Unhealthy Habits
Nemo being a new fish in the sea started to find whales are such big and majestic creatures and he takes a fancy in them. He is particularly fascinated with them and he follows these whales wherever they go. Sometimes Nemo will try to wave at these whales, but most of the time, because he is too small, the whales would miss seeing him. Nemo would always feel devastated. He always wonder why some whales choose to mix with other whales.
Nemo tries even harder. He started drawing whales and posting the pictures of the whales, hopefully they will be aware of him, then he realise that he is not the first to use this trick. There were like 302309 other post of other fishes mostly minnows that deploy the same trick to be noticed. Finally, Nemo realised one thing, he should be focusing on his post and avoid this unhealthy obsession with the whales. He started spending more time with his post and create some original content. But again, he is lonely, so he sets out to find friends, also some other small fishes that just joined the sea.
Finding New Friends
Nemo was swimming in reef and he met Moray the eel. Moray has been a resident of the sea for 2 weeks and seem to know a bit more than Nemo. Moray didn't have any problem befriending Nemo and they got along quite well. Moray told Nemo,
'Hey Kid, you want to know some of my friends? They are some pretty chill guys'
Moray took Nemo to a community called 'Minnow's Playground'. There Nemo found many new fishes just like himself. They are equally lost but at least they felt that they are not alone. Nemo felt at home. At least he doesn't need to keep waving at the whales and be unnoticed. Nemo made many friends but he was thinking how he is going to get good support for his posts so he started chanting,
'Upvote for Upvote' and 'Resteem for Resteem' and he noticed that many of his friends started to avoid him. He is a bit confused. Isn't everyone here for the same reason? Moray who saw that told Nemo,
'Kid, I think you are annoying everyone. We just want to make friends and create good contents. This is not a barter trade. You don't sell your vote because another person voted for you. You earn your votes'
It all started to make some sense to Nemo. Looks like there is no shortcut to making friends and earning their votes. It has to be good solid posts.
