Steem-Engine Going Under Construction Today! Adding staking and delegation to the ENG contract.

in #steem-engine5 years ago (edited)

Ok, here's a thing you might not know. No one on this team can directly issue ENG or actually has full control over ENG. That's because the issuer is @ null. So, simple things like making your token stakable or enabling delegation aren't possible from steem-engine.com. We have to update the contract. It's a pain in the ass, but it's one of the things that helps secure the value of ENG. Aggy at a whim can't print 10M more.

Anyway, the steem-engine node isn't getting changed, but we're adding staking and delegation to the ENG contract today. That's in line with the goal of changing how pricing is going to work. We're not going to charge a monthly fee for our services, you just have to stake ENG.

The changes should happen in the next few hours. There's a small chance that something goes haywire, but it shouldn't. This isn't effecting the node. It's just changing the ENG contract to enable staking and delegation.

Staking will take 40 days to undo. That's because our billing cycle is 30 days and we want the unstaking longer than the billing cycle.

Delegation will be possible too. That means if you want to buy ENG and rent to people forming tribes and communities you can. Delegations will have a 7 day return period like Steem in the good ole' days (it's currently 5 days for steem).

Again, we don't think this will effect anything, but if there's anything wonky that happens in a few hours it's because of this and we'll review the cause. Remember everything is on a blockchain. So, if we screw anything up we'll be able to recover anything for posts that haven't paid out.

For more detailed info on pricing check this out- https://www.palnet.io/steem-engine/@aggroed/steem-engine-powered-tribes-pricing-guide-for-creating-and-distributing-smart-contract-community-tokens-scot-through-steem

We'll have more of it on the website "soon." We're just trying to get the UI for the exchange v2 out the door, which hopefully has a visible page for the public starting in 10 days or less.

Sort:

Delegations will have a 7 day return period like Steem.

Steem is 5 days for delegation return since HF20.

Sounds good to me. I love what is being done on Steem-Engine. I like the security and immutability of the smart contract.

The team behind all of this is really providing an exceptional service to Steem. Over time, we are going to see all of this grow into something beyond our wildest dreams.

Noice! Options for my ENG Coin, me likey.

Looks like Steem-Engine is a great place for me to learn more. I found the site easy to understand and now with your post communication looks top notch also.

through this struggle ENG coins can make more progress,...

Hate to he that guy... "affect" ;)

Good work! :)

Great, I've already staked mine and no problemo. Kudos.

I have just staked my ENGcoins. And now, what can/should I do?

@aggroed you will add SBD on steem engine in the Future? That would be really cool, because we have a staple coin :)

And i have another question :) Is it a plan from Steem engine to make fiat cash ins possible for trading ( in the future)?
