Yes, exactly. I'm also a newbie and I practically have no idea how to really reach people. I'm intending to write stories, particularly about myself and I want them to be read and known. I hope I will manage that with some help.
1st step, don't beg for attention, change your strategy or you're going to get some flags and be put on plenty of blacklists.
Maybe mention a bit about your stories they way you already do, but don't ask people to come support you or anything that resembles asking for help. People like to visit people's blogs out of interest and intrigue, not out of altruism after being asked for help.
I'm carrying a community of newbies on my shoulder, so I'll be using this plenty! Now I won't have to write every answer from scratch every time someone asks. :P
