Since I don't have the time I did last year, I've not been able to answer every comment or question asked in posts, chats, etc. So this is your chance! This Wednesday, Jan 10th from 7-9pm CST (Thursday Jan 11th 1-3am GMT) I'll be in the the old Steemit Talk Podcast discord to answer any questions that you might have!

Last year I had WAY more time which allowed me to work one on one with people, or at least in smaller groups. But as I've had life obligations increase, I instead started trying to help new people by writing short, easy to understand guides, answer questions in Steemit chat as well as in the Team Girl Powa discord. But I know reading a guide isn't quite the same as getting direct answers and/or advice from somebody.
Even though there are tons of resources around whether the Steemit Faq, Steem Center Wiki, My Guides or guides of others available...I KNOW people still prefer direct answers to their questions.
I'm Donating Two Full Hours Just to Help fellow Steemians!
So this is your opportunity! Participants will get my undivided attention to ask questions about:
- Any aspect of Steemit
- What's changed over time on Steemit
- Suggestions to be more successful on here
- What images can you safely use (since you earn money from posts)
- Post formatting issues or access to post templates
- Getting started in Cryptocurrency Trading
- or even things that are more personal such as my experience being transgender
I do plan to record the session and will repost it for others to listen to if it seems worthwhile. If people enjoy this sort of thing, I'll look to do more in the future.
A Few Credentials
I've been on Steemit since July 2016, seen the changes over time and constantly tried to help out new people to the platform. This includes (or included)
- founded and ran the first newbie mentoring group called @steemprentice
- co-hosted the @SteemitTalk podcast for over a year
- helping out with the "Team Girl Powa" community in their discord
- moderating in Steemit.Chat's #general channel
- literally written dozens of guides for new Steemit users (see full list below)
..just to name a few.
While I won't say I know everything, I have built up quite a bit of Steemit knowledge. On top of this I have been doing some cryptocurrency trading for over a year and I also have my personal experience with being transgender (which I don't often bring up, but am comfortable discussing.)

Hello @sykochica, I probably won't get to your podcast or Webinar or whatever, as I don't know how. Every time I've been to Discord, there is no-one online. Steem-chat says my address is not my address(but arcange sorted me out how to bypass that one, and yet not done because I don't know how.) I'm learning, but slowly. Computers are not my forte, and my 5month old laptop with maybe 12hrs on it and no more than two on internet with Nil viruses, crashed, so badly the IT guys had to send it back to Dell. So, I completed my entry into steemit.com via my ph. I've many many questions, which I won't ask for awhile as I figure stuff out, but as I've posted in replies to others I would be very willing to be the 'idiot', for a knowledgeable type to write a book, as copyreader and comprehension tester. I find this site so difficult, I believe an idiots' guide would earn lots of scout badges. A 1,2,3,4,5,6, series of 'how to'. A lot of the questions you posted, are great, but I don't even understand them, so the answers are out of sight as yet, even when you've given them. The money, will make very much more sense, once I can actually navigate freely, I'm sure. This is long-term. I didn't come here specifically for the crypto's, and once I can navigate better, they will be of far more interest.
For instance, I want to ask about passwords, other than master 52character. But would much prefer to do that via email¿
Ahh...a lot of the Discords don't always have people talking...sometimes it's just finding the times people are around, or using the text chats in there to get started.
Oh the passwords...I personally don't expect to see us getting shorter passwords, likely ever. The saying I'd heard from early on here was that "If you can remember your password, it's not secure." While this would be overkill some places (like facebook)...there is a LOT of money in wallets here on Steemit. Having money included...high security is a must.
I don't really converse much through email, but we can try using private message in discord, I'm sykochica#9521 on there. It's hard to make a 1, 2, 3, series since so many people go in different directions at the start.

OK, here's one. When I originally applied, I got an acceptance mail or post¿ ~ on it were my master pass, (which I immediately wrote in hard-copy, having read the note about loss of) and also several others to do with ??
Where would that first mail or post be? What were those passes and where might I find them? I have my 52character master, but would not know where to look for that post/mail.
I may have posted 180 times and voted and reposted and commented and replied, but I know exactly zilch about computers or programs, or even very much about navigation. I am finding it easier to get around but I have no idea where that first acceptance might be. ??

Great to see you helping out steemit users like this. When I first joined this community, I didn't know what I was doing, lol. It's a complex platform and new people need as much help as possible! Hopefully, this idea will go really well :)
Thank you! Definitely TONS to learn when starting out here...heck I still pick up new things quite frequently. Hopefully things like this help to make the learning curve a bit less daunting. I remember when I was new too.
I do really enjoy helping people out..just have had to find ways to balance it with real life. It should be interesting for sure :)

Great initiative! I have a question. Some days ago I noticed that steem power is not equal steem now. Did I miss anything?
Oh, like not be calculated exactly the same in the wallets estimated value?
I have seen that they're slightly off in that calculation, but haven't determined exactly why just yet. However, I can guaranty that 1 Steem = 1 Steem Power on the actual market (even if the estimated value is treating them a bit differently.)

ohh thank you..good information....but it just looks strange in author rewards))))) e.g. 6.048 SBD, and 0.877 STEEM POWER for aksinya/sketching-class-on-line-part-iii-signs-and-comments
Ahh...so the author cut on that post was $12.10. With half ($6.05) paying as SBD and half as the SP.
The SBD portion probably looks about what you'd expect, with it paying $1 US = 1 SBD (even though we can sell the sbd for way more right now)
$6.05 US = 6.048 SBD (I'm ok chalking the difference up to rounding error here)
Now the SP part...this is paid out using the 3.5 day avg price of Steem at the time of payout: (I estimated the 3.5 day avg price to be $7.)
$6.05 US = $6.05 US / (1 Steem / $7 US) = 0.864 Steem
--- this being a bit low means the avg steem price was a bit less than $7, which is reasonable to me

Why isn't the value of steem updated instantly on steemit wallet?
And I know sbd's were supposed to be around $1 but why doesn't steemit wallet show their current value?
The estimated account value shown in the Steemit wallet uses a a 3.5 day average of the Steem price. Then the SBD's are counted as $1 each in there.
Steemit both pay's out SBD's and values (in the wallet) as if they were $1 USD. While I'm sure they could change it to better reflect the actual market value...I would think this would also cause you to no longer be paid out using 1 SBD = $1 USD...instead it would be like Steem where it factors in the (avg) market price.
I'm sure they could make the SBD value be more 'accurate' to the market..but would it really be worth losing all the money when you'd be so much less SBD's from a payout ?
