For mobile I haven't found any better alternative than eSteem. For desktop still the old Steemit. Steempeak however has some nice features like scheduled posting for example. I would try eSteem surfer desktop also so if you try it and is it worthy let me now. Where can you download the app?

I've noticed the eSteem mobile app takes a cut, but that doesn't concern me much as I'm only using it occationally for comments, never for posts, don't like writing on the phone. Does the eSteem surfer take a cut?
I have never tried eSteem surfer. I checked the download link from one @goodkarma's post but it takes me to some github page and there I didn't knew what version suits for my laptop and choose. I am thinking for a while though to try eSteem surfer.
Yeah, that was a bit of an uphill even for me, I'm sure they lose a lot of potential users because it's difficult to download and install it.
First I downloaded the source from the master branch and ran the "npm start" command as suggested in the README. First it bailed out because there was no config file. The README says nothing about that. I found the example config file, one was supposed to set the API endpoint and lots of other configurables, but ... no dice, got only some crud on the screen when starting it.
Then I did the "npm release" as suggested in the README, got some error message because I don't have the Windows emulator (wine) installed (wtf, that's a weird dependency? luckily it seems like it was able to continue without), and eventually I found an executable and ran it. I got the same crud as before.
Next, followed the download link, downloaded the tarball, unpacked it, found the executable, ran it ... and it works.
You lost me and eSteem also 😁 with all these steps to follow just to install an app. From your mention of "wine" I assume you are running linux. I have a Windows 10 but my computer knowledge is minimal so if I have to go through so much steps just to have eSteem on my laptop then I'll pass. For my needs Steemit works fine for now.

I tried eSteem surfer for a little yesterday, but reverted to steemit.com after a short while; felt that I wanted to check the feed without leaving the reply I was writing (perhaps a sign that I need to learn focusing better), didn't know if that was possible in the surfer, but multiple tabs in the browser is fine. I think the surfer looked quite much like the steemit.com user interface, so I wonder if there are any significant benefits using it. I'll give it one more try; if I find that I like it, I will see if I can help them making the software more accessible, if not, I don't care :)
Using Partiko occasionally for viewing posts and commenting is perfect! People love the push notifications!

Installed it and I am giving it a try. I am mostly interested in push notifications. Thanks.

Push notifications when there is new content in the feed would be cool.
Another feature I'd like is scheduled voting. Sometimes I do like being a bit tactical with the voting wrg curation rewards, then I would like to say "give this post an upvote when it's 14 minutes old".
Let me know when you've tested Partiko for a while which one you prefer :-)
I feel that eSteem has some annoying bugs that never seems to get fixed (oh well, I guess I'm partly to blame since I haven't reported them, but to me they seem blatantly obvious, can't believe I'm the only one seeing them). It takes a cut from the rewards when posting through eSteem, and (most annoying) it doesn't seem to save drafts, so I often end up spending time writing a comment just to see it wiped out as the application was restarted (it got a bit better after getting a new cellphone with more memory, with the old one I couldn't do any task switching without losing my partly written comment).
I am already more inclined to use partiko but will use it more the days to come and I will reply with the pros and cons. On eSteem I don't like the way notifications work and its UI also. I never posted using it though so it hasn't took any Steem from me 😁.

I just ended my test with partiko. It has worked well with delivering notifications for a while but now it's notifying me with sound only when I unlock the phone. Plus it keeps on delivering a message that it has failed connecting with some API. I can't recommend it. I am sticking with eSteem till some better mobile alternative will be launched.
