Earl Grey is designed for hard water, the oils turn the taste into something pleasant. So if you've hard water, or child-safe white chalk you don't mind wasting a bit of, then go Earl Grey.
This does not apply if you feel in a spaceship captain kind of mood, when it is always Earl Grey time.
