I'm fairly new here but I think as a newbie you need the ability to upvote yourself in the beginning as a means to build yourself up. Maybe there should be a monetary cutoff switch where at some point you can't upvote yourself based on your own sp.

Barely. Those rewards are negligible.
Well look I'm not a technical guy so I don't know all the in's and out's about this crypto but maybe the curation reward should be increased to entyce people to do that instead. I don't know. I'm just thinking out loud.
