In Recent days we have seen exponential growth of Steemit community in South Asia particularly from India. As we have very few bitcoin exchanges in India, So far there is no exchange which support trading of Steem as a base cryptocurrency.
Considering the huge market place we are planning to start a new exchange in India, by which users can trade Steem directly.
As it is at the conceptual level we need lot of support from fellow members. We are inviting people to give ideas and suggestions where we can bring this project live at the earliest.

Great to hear. Would be interesting if Steem (Backed) Dollars were to be used as a base currency in an exchange's trading pairs. This could be a way to have more crypto trading pairs without fiat pairs with something still (indirectly representing the dollar (USD).

Great! Steem has a lot of potential in India, it's the second largest population of English speakers. You're making the right move, this could end up being a very successful venture in the long term.
I would say stick to the basics. Open up a simple exchange, link bank accounts with IMPS and we'll see where that takes us. I'd like to see exchanges link Steem accounts directly (using Steemconnect?), instead of using the clumsy memo system. Of course, there should be that for people who don't want to give out their active key etc.
I'd suggest getting in touch with Steemit Inc - I'm sure they'll offer you all the support you need.

I believe never too late. I just came across this post after 8 months of it being posted here and joined the Whatsapp group. Hoping to see some excellent option coming up for we Indians. I have a basic question bring a newbie. What are the current options to buy Steem from India? Anybody have idea?
My only suggestion is : Whatever you do, "Keep it Simple."

Full support.But on a lighter note,Once its popular in India, the #steemit creators will be bound to think and execute the above idea because we are capable of challenging the world's population and only fools will let go off the Indian customers since anyway we have both man n brain power.

Buyucoin allows to trade in steem along with few other popular currencies.
Go for it but make sure the rates are not too high then people (esp in India) will ditch the service. Keep it simple!
