This 5th post/Chapter of the 11 Chapter series is to help new visitors and new people on the steemit platform to learn some of the many "Other ways to Earn Rewards on the Steemit Platform and Steem Blockchain". My main aim here with this full Steemit guide of 11 Chapters is to give new visitors, new users on steemit, minnows, (and for the ones that have been here for a week or 2 and are struggling to earn some rewards), all the needed information to help them understand the steemit platform and steem blockchain as much as possible and as easier as possible, and thus help them make their way on steemit. This means at the end, more people achieving success on steem, more stories for the world that steem is achieving freedom and empowering people, as well as returning the power to the hands of people. This are the aims of its creator @dan Larimer, which is mentioned by @teamsteem in his welcome to steemit post.
So, for those of you who have been here for less than 20 or 30 days, on behalf of the steemit community, let me extend in a LOUD VOICE, a big WELCOME to you.
My aim is to help people understand: the most important concepts, the actions they will do on the platform, the things that they will interact with, learn about the entire ecosystem were steem is being developed, as well as give them some personal advice on how to contribute with the steemit community by adding value, and thus earn rewards.
Since there are lots of things to learn on Steemit and the steem blockchain (and you will see its a never ending learning process), at the end of this Chapter #5 (and at the end of every chapter), I will enumerate the learning topics I will be discussing in the entore series of 11 posts/Chapters.
All this topics I will be talking about are things I have learned from the very first day I signed up. There are many things to learn in order to make our way on the platform, and for sure I will miss some things.
This is because when we start doing things on repetition, we forget about them, and we just do them automaticaly, so feel free to ask any questions on the comments section. Also if you are a Plankton, Dolphin or Whale reading the post, your contribution, suggestions here will really help new People (Minnows) to make their way, and thus make steemit grow and make it a better platform every day.
So, lets get started with Chapter/Post #5, and learn some of the many "Other ways to Earn Rewards on the Steemit Platform and Steem Blockchain" , in addition to the 3 ways to earn we discussed on Chapter 1 of the series.
Let's take into account that the 3 ways to earn rewards for granted on the blockchain are: (if we percevere and continuously add value to the platform & to people on steemit) blog posting, commenting and curating.

On this new chapter I will be explaining several other ways that are available to earn on Steemit and the Steem Blockchain.

1- Making Quality Contributions in @utopian-io

3- By investing Steem, and Powering Up on the platform (earning interests and curating increases)

6- By purchasing a delegation of SP from @blocktrades and curating content on the website. This will not only give you more rewards for the curated content, but will also provide more influence on the platform for the delegated time.

So, lets begin with the first way I will describe to earn rewards (in addition to posting, commenting and curating).
1- Earn Rewards by Making Quality Contributions in @utopian-io
For the ones that have not heard about @utopian-io or did not have the chance to check it out yet, it is a steem blockchain development created by @elear , a great visionary from the steemit community. With Utopian-io he is disrupting the way open source projects are funded, giving benefits on both ends: developers/contributors, and sponsors/owners. On the contributors side, once they make the contribution and give proof on the @utopian-io, after they are approved by a moderator, the @utopian-io bot votes the contribution with a high valuable vote.
And on the other side, sponsors can delegate SP "Steem Power", the feature we referred back on Chapter #3 [Link to chapter 3], to the @utopian-io and receive 20% of the profits made by the @utopian-io development every week. More details on this on: https://utopian.io/sponsors

For those who don't know @aggroed yet, he is the founder of the minnow support project founder, and he is hosting 4 voting bots. He is an early adopter from back August 2016. I definitely recommend you to follow him.

Now that we finished with Utopian, we'll move forward with the second extra way of our list to earn rewards in the steem blockchain.
2- Earn Rewards By delegating SP to @minnowbooster or Selling our vote to the bot
For those who don't know yet, the steemit platform has several bots, and growing, that were created with the purpose of using them, to make quality posts be reached by more people. @minnowbooster is one of this bots.
As bots have a larger voting power and Steem Power as many of us held, if we buy a bot upvote, we can get more visibility on our posts, and thus be reached by more users. Currently on Dec 17th the Vote Strength of minnowbooster is 200% after curation. What this means is that if we transfer the not 2 sbd, the vote we'll receive in our post will be 200% of this amount. There are different factors that will make the vote from the bot less profitable, and one of them is the remaining amount of voting power from the bot, at the time you will be sending the funds to receive the vote.
[We'll refer to voting bots and how to use them, more specifically on Chapter #7 in a few days, if this post is interesting you can follow me to learn from the next posts in a few days].
So, in the other side, there are sponsors that can delegate part of their sp not using, to earn part of the profits of the minnowbooster bot. If you delegate to minnowbooster, you will be a sponsor and will be receiving payouts from the bot.

So, lets move with the 3rd extra way to earn rewards on the steem blockchain with steemit, which is by investing Steem on the blockchain, right by transferring funds from the exchange, to your Steemit Wallet (On chapter #2 we explained every function of the wallet, and we added video contributions and writtem tutorials from several Steemians that created this for new members and to make it easier for people to understand, each of the functions. So, anything you need about the wallet, you can find it there. In case their is something you don't understand, please ask this in the comments section, and I will explain with everything I know, or try to bring someone to explain that for all of us)
3- Earn Rewards By investing Steem, and Powering Up on the platform (earning interests and curating increases)
Another thing you can do when you gain more trust on Steemit, and start earning rewards, is buying steem from exchanges, any amount, $20 USD, 50 USD, 100 USD or whatever amount you are confortable with, and this will make you start looking Steemit and Steem as an investment, and not only a way to make money by posting. Actually as the very known @timcliff explains, and we remarked (and other steemians I credited for their quality contribution posts too) in chapter #3 and the first chapters, is that when we start seeing the platform and technology as an investment, all our perspective changes completely, and sooner or later we start doing things to make steem and steemit more valuable, and thus this transforms into a benefit for all, and the all the power of all people on the platform mixed together is what its producing the butterfly growth effect.
Thank you @timcliff for all your contributions for the steemit community, and for the steemit road map of 2018, and for trasmitting all the valuable ideas as a big community voice to the developers and steemit inc. Your work is very much appreciated. I definitely recommend you to follow @timcliff . You will definitely learn a lot from him. Actually the follow 2 posts are of great value and a must read from him. One of them is a post from @terrybrock a very known steemian and early investor on the platform that interviewed @timcliff and here he reveals many things he has done when he started initially like one of us, being unknown. So, he changed himself from unknown to one of the most respected users in the steemit community. And @terrybrock made up this great interview for all of us to learn from Tim Cliff's experience and process.

So, lets continue with the steem investment. Once you transfer any amount of steem to your steem wallet on steemit (you can learn how to do this if you still don't know how to do it, on Chapter #2 which has videos and/or tutorials for all the functions of the wallet), you will them want to power up in case you would like to keep the investment safer, have a bit more of influence in the platform, and to start getting interest just for holding it.
It will not be much noticeable for low amounts, however, all steemit accounts that have steem power are earning interest from it. If you check an account with over 100,000 SP, you will refresh and notice how new SP is generated time we refresh. (For instance lets see the @steemit wallet to see how it increases the steem amount when refreshing: https://steemit.com/@steemit/transfers)
[Please, use the adequate private keys when transferring funds with steemit and keep the Master Password and owner key with total safe as explained on Chapter #4 on how to keep your assets safe. Also I always recomment to DYOR (Do your own research to improve even more your safety when managing crypto and when making any trading decisions. My posts are only thoughts of the author and respective authors, and by no means this are advice nor recommendation to either buy or sell anything! It's only meant for use as informative)]
Now its time to focus on the 4th last way (we listed) to earn rewards of steemit. Note that the steem blockchain is getting more and more new developments ready and new opportunities are coming of other ways to contribute and earn.
**4- Earning Rewards By delegating being a sponsor in @utopian-io **
We already mentioned this way of earning when we explained about utopian-io on item #1 above, however, we did not explain it in detail. Delegating SP to utopian-io means you remain with it, but now utopian will be using it. With all the sponsoring utopian gets, its steem power for its votes gets bigger, and this means the bot can vote more contributions.
To delegate your steem power, here is the website specific page: https://utopian.io/sponsors , and once on the page, their is a "Delegate" button. By clicking on it, a popup asks to enter username and the amount to delegate. As the utopian-io site mentioned, all this is done via SteemConnect, a tool maintained by Steemit itself, where your credentials are safe. @utopian-io is so great from its very beginning of its launch no more than around 3 and a half months ago, that even @ned the CEO of Steemit has delegated 1,000,000 SP to the project, and he also refused to get sponsor payouts.
Another great example I want to give for you to earn even more confidence on how great @utopian-io is, @lukestokes which is one of the most recognized members on the Steemit Community is delegating Steem Power for the brilliant @utopian-io development created by @elear.

5- Earn Rewards By promoting steemit in your country, city or town with #promo-steem created by @starkerz and @stephenkendal
Let me start with the primary source, words from @starkerz in his post less than 10 days ago.
"We really hope it will be a great place for promoters and whales to find resources, advice, help and assistance whilst leveraging the Steem blockchain to support your important promo work! "
In a few words, I believe the aim of promo-steem is to empower people (from all over the world and communities) that are promoting Steemit in their region, country, or around the world with their website or social media sites. Any way of good promotion is welcomed. I will explain this in a bit more detail in the next paragraphs.
But promo-steem goes much further than this, it also aims to be as a form of resoruces for promoters, new visitors, and new members, to get information, advise, and as much information as possible about Steemit and the steem blockchain. Basically giving them as many reasons for them to be attracted to sign up. But it goes a bit further, it also has the material to help people learn more about many things that will also help increase the amount of users that turn active once they sign up. By educating them from the beginning, people will get motivated faster, and this can finally get into a huge growth effect in the platform.

So, to continue with the concept of empowering and motivating people to promote Steemit, let me give an example.
There is Joe. He lives in US, UK, Mexico, Nigeria, Venezuela, Argentina, or any country in the world. He heard about Steemit and he just signed up, or perhaps he has been here for a long time. Every and any person can do this. So, one day he decides he wants to promote Steemit in his neighborhood, or his town, city, country. He says, ok, I don't have resources, but I have the will to do it. Ok, let me give you good news, you can make a pitch to obtain a micro loan.

So, you are Joe, and in case you don't have resources, you can obtain them. Now we are ready, with some resources you can print cards, make promotional wearing t-shirts of steemit, make brochures, and start promoting steemit on your neigborhood, on the streets, sports places, anywere you know.
What happens next? If you post photos showing what you are doing, pointing to the Steemit logo, then by making a post of your daily or weekly activities, and by adding the #promo-steem tag, people from the promo-steem group and anyone on steemit interested on what you are doing, will help you backup your time with upvotes. So, you will have funds to continue your campaign, and to fund yourself for your time.
This is basically somethings of what promo-steem can do for the better of Steemit.

1- Go to Steem Wallet
2- On the Steem Section, click on Buy (You will be taken to Blocktrades.us website)
3- On the Send section, choose Steem or Bitcoin for instance, depending on the crypto you are looking to use to purchase the Steem Power delegation.(Lets use Steem for this example)
4- Below Steem or the crypto you selected to send, you enter the amount of that crypto you are looking to spend.
5- On the Receive section (at the right), just make sure Steem Power "delegation" is selected (Which is different than Steem Power alone). You will see how much Steem Power delegation you will be receiving according to the amount of crypto you are looking to spend. (See note from step 5 at the end)
6- On your receive address, make sure to enter your steemit account name
7- Then click on the Get deposit address, and the @blocktrades system will generate a memo to use and the account to send the transfer to (The account to transfer the fundsis @blocktrades, and in our example, the memo is generated because we will send steem to purchase Steem Power)
8- We go to the Steem Wallet, then steem section again, and click on Transfer, then enter @blocktrades in the to: field , and enter the memo the system generated, in the memo field.
9- Finally the system prompts to enter the active key, so as to process the transaction.

For instance, purchasing 1 steem power, costs around 1 steem (and you can directly use the wallet to power up your steem to get steem power), however, purchasing "1 delegared steem power", (you may get "100 times the amount (check real amounts on the blocktrades.us site)" of steem power for 1 steem for instance, for a period of 30 days), means you are leasing it for a limited time, and it will be removed from your account once the time expires.
The amount of delegated steem power I mentioned above is just for explanation purposes. The amount of delegated steem power that @blocktrades provides per 1 unit of steem, or 1 unit of bitcoin, or any amount you want to use to purchase, varies according to the market and other factors.

My goal is to be able to post more with more stories and more valuable content.
Im also still trying to find my niche and so far, I am inclined to travels, poetry and photography.
Also still learning to be more comfortable in expressing my thoughts as I've always been conscious in sharing and screening my posts. I have always been using Facebook and the difference that I'm seeing now between Facebook and Steemit is that here, you are encouraged to post freely because everybody is all about supporting each other.
