Well you've opened a can with this one now, haven't you?! :)
I've read through all the comments and I see some in agreement, some offended, and others proving they're different from those described in your post. I guess there will always be those who think there is only so much money to be earned here, and then the pot will dry out, so they better try to make a buck where they can, and for them that means looking upward. There are many like me, @simplymike, @insideoutlet who go above and beyond to help 'the little guys' out. When I started here, I joined @newbieresteemday and it was then I realized that right now, our upvotes mean very little in terms of monetary value, but together we are worth more, and more importantly, we all can grow together supporting each other along the way. I did not look for a Whale Sugar Daddy (or Sugar Redfish @maverickinvictus ;) to take care of me. I have searched out a community of like-minded individuals, like @asapers for example, who I am proud to say will grow with me and I with them.
