RE: The barbwired blockchain: Steem communities

in #steem7 years ago

I have thought of the Steem Future and communities and how my feed is going to look like and if my content will be seen in some people that read mine today because all of their feed will show those that they follow but not necesarily because of a certain tag but hivemind and communities might change that.

When I first joined steemit 7 months ago I was taken in by a group right away and the MO was to circle jerk and resteem all posts. I did not last long because of the arrogance and self entitlement of some people that because they were in the platform longer and deserved their upvote.

2nd group I was in was mostly composed of family and friends and I was not that comfortable at first as I was one of the few outsiders but eventually grew to like them and helped build that community and one of the proponents I espoused was the ideals in inclusiveness and mentorship.

Alas some things change so much and I left when the core grew elitist and wanted to purge majority of what they deem as "low quality posters" and those who were not hanging out in discord.

We have to understand that some people are not in discord but in the posts. commenting and giving feedback there and to penalize people for not chewing the fat and spending hours chatting is unfair. So I left.

Another community I was in was being delegated SP and they were accused of playing favorites and circle jerking which was true. Oh how power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

So far I have been with the Promo-mentors the longest because of its mission and vision in steem of wanting to add value to the blockchain.

There is also freedom and choice there because the rules are reasonable and the targets not that hard to hit.

I think even if I have left a lot of communities I have still been able to connect and create deep human connections with some people.

Like you I often talk about myself, my views on Steem and Steemit things, I seldom write prose and a lot less poetry. I do talk about charity and alturism at times.

I can't draw to save my life and as much as I want to sing, throat injuries prevent mefrom doing that and it is one of my fears with communities that I may be left out without a niche.

So using one of my skills, networking and engagement I hope that I will remain relevant not because of the size of my wallet which I continually power up, but because of what I bring in the platform.
