Let's Pump Steemit (but not the way you think)

I would say right now that most of us on Steemit.com come from the crypto world and I'm sure most of us knows what a pump and dump is.But I am not talking about that kind of Pump. The kind of pump i'm talking about is pumping our content by getting it seen as many people as possible. Essentually making Steemit.com go viral.

I think it would be safe to say that Steemit is a different creature all together Because Steemit's main asset is people the more members we get on here producing, upvoting and sharing content the higher price of Steem will be in the long run. I started thinking, How could we pump Steemit up and get more people to visit and to become members.
Here are just a few ideas that I think that might help.

First.

Of course this has to be content. Right now I have noticed that the majority of the content has to do with Steem, Steemit or something to do with the crypto world and there is nothing wrong with that at all. And even though there is a lot of great content that has been posted so far. Steemit.com is still a blank slate right now. there are millions of different topics out there to create good content for. The more deversified our content is the more people we can attract. Look at Steemit like a resturaunt for a minute. Right now there is only a few items on the menu but we have a chance to put so much good quality stuff on that menu and get paid doing it that everybody will want to eat at our resturant and add their own items to the menu. So as a suggestion and a challenge. if you happen to add content about Steemit or something in the cryptoworld keep doing it. Don't stop, but after that post, take 10 minutes find something unique and create another post. This way you get more exposure and a chance to make a little more money here on Steemit plus it also increases your chances for someone who is searching for your content to find it and bringing them to the site.

Second.

After you make your post get in the habit of sharing your content. I think a lot of bloggers do this and I am guilty of not doing it myself. You create a great piece of content and you hit post then that is all you do. If that is all you do then maybe a few people will see it and if you're lucky get a couple of upvotes. but sharing your content can be just as important creating it. for example look at the laughing chewbacca mask lady since May 19, 2016 (a few days ago) her facebook video got over 153 million views https://www.facebook.com/candaceSpayne/videos/10209653193067040/ plus on youtube she has got another 5 million plus views

and there is all the talkshows she has been on. If she didn't share that, none of that would have happened But She created a funny piece of content , shared it and look what happened. Now could a piece of content form Steemit.com go viral like that? You never know and the only way to find out is by sharing it.

here are just a few other places you can share your content.
Of course you want to hit that share button at the bottom of your post a go ahead and share it with facebook and twitter. you can also go to https://steemitweeter.steemservices.com/ and this will auto post your post to twitter for you which makes it a little easier for you. you can also spread you content to a lot of other places automatically by going to http://ifttt.com , I wrote a post showing you how to use steemitweeter along with ifttt.com https://steemit.com/steemit/@mldorton/use-steemtweeter-along-with-ifttt.

other places you can post a link back to your post. on facebook join facebook groups. if you post about cooking just join as many cooking groups on facebook then when you right another post just share it with those groups, some of those groups may have thousands of members and may want to try that.

post your link to bookmarking sites.
post you link to sites like pinterest, digg, tumblr (most of this can be done using ifttt.com)
post your link to forums related to your content.
post your link in comments on other blogs related to your content.
the thing is the more places out there that you have a link pointing back to your post the more chances of someone seeing it.

Lastly

Share other peoples content

you may not go as in depth as you did with sharing your own content but this helps others out as well as Steemit as a whole by bringing more exposure to the site. at the least just hit that share button below the post and share it on facebook and twitter. Even if you didn't upvote a post just share about 3 or 4 post a day. just by doing something as simple as that, I believe we could see a dramatic increase to the amount of visitors to this site and more visitors equals more members. More members + sharing = More Exposure and in turn More Exposure = More People becoming Members and it becomes a big looping cycle that is ever growing.

Again these were just some thoughts that might help get more exposure to Steemit.com

If you have any other ways or ideas leave them in the comments.
