I disabled wifi for a completely different reason. The wireless reach of my router is such that a guy with a laptop in a Car parked across the street can use my IP address to do what ever he wants. Many ISP provided router boxes have a factory reset password (admin) and a good hacker knows where they can get this information for each type of box. They can still reset my password, but now they have to plug into my box with an ethernet cable instead of doing it wirelessly from a Car across the Street.
