RE: An Argument for Long-Term Rational Self-Interest Versus Short-Term Irrational Value Extraction

Very insightful post, Luke – thank you! I very much look forward to viewing your video later today. In the interim, I’ve garnered a great deal of good information just from reading through the comment thread, which makes me that much more anxious to view the video.

I’ve been pondering some of the structural challenges that have manifested here on Steemit and wondered if more of a “structured decentralization” would be able to address various abuses.

Sort of like the “constitution” to which Dan Larimer refers to in his whitepaper on EOS. Nothing coercive, authoritarian, or oppressive, however, but rather a constitution that embodies a structured set of protective rules and remedies that are designed to protect, correct, preserve, and serve the best long-term interest of the ecosystem at large.

I’m not sure if Steemit has the will, capability, or wherewithal to adopt any such measures to clean up the runaway “Wild West” aspect of what currently ails us. It certainly doesn’t appear that the problem can fix itself organically.

Do you have any thoughts on whether structural remedies of the above sort are remotely possible at any point in the future?

Thanks again for this insightful post, Luke.
