Wish there was a DAPP out there for comic creators because the steemit platform is terrible for that.

Try using discord more because it is somewhat necessary element to engage more with Steem community and join relevant Art/Comics groups then you might feel little less lost, consider to join #PowerHouseCreatives which is must one
As @jaynie said, give @ntopaz a try, other specific communities/initiatives you might find interesting are:
1- @ArtZone
2- Trial by Comics contest by @kommienezuspadt
3- Msp Music & Art Curation Contest by @isaria
Regarding token, they are First/Beta stage of specific Cryptocurrency/CryptoCoin. Their primary purpose is to be sold for fiat or cryptocurrency in order to fund the blockchain project. Later on, they can take the shape of full-fledged coin after they implement their road-map.
Some Dapps funtional on Steem blockchain are issusing tokens but right now there is not one for Art/Comics yet.

It is not specifically for comic creators but for creative artists all round - have you looked into @ntopaz?

I think you might find that you meet a more appropriate niche audience posting to steem via that route.

Hope to see you in there. Let me know if you give @ntopaz a try and how it goes. - One note though, just be sure to be able to validate and authenticate all your work if you are publishing it on other platforms too as they are quite strict about plagiarism etc.
