The potential folly of steem

in #steem6 years ago

I have only recently joined this platform, partly out of curiosity and partly for a change of scene from other social media. In my time here i have noticed that the platform has the potential to be great for everyone involved in it. However i have also noticed one problem with it. That being the platform being built around a cryptocurrency.
Please don't misunderstand i am not saying that the crypto is all around bad just that it has the potential to be.
I am sure many people have noticed that the top trending post almost always center around the topic. Either it will be a post about bitcoin or some exchange or steem itself. This will make it harder for newcomers to really get in to the platform. Not all mind you. However if a new user joins up and all they ever see is the price of steem and bitcoin or analyses of the crypto market it could be very discouraging. I am not saying that the model is wrong or bad. This is just a speculation about the potential problem that could arise is someone were so inclined to exploit these topics
