RE: An Argument for Long-Term Rational Self-Interest Versus Short-Term Irrational Value Extraction

in #steem7 years ago

Sorry but it looks like a fantasy story for now. Most people don't want to buy the long-term story investment story, that's the reason we see SBD trading (a pegged currency) above $1. People don't want to research and put efforts understanding the platform.

Crypto-currencies have attracted a lot of people cause of the money and the return this industry is giving to them. They are here just for the money and over the top, they are covered with the mask. No one knows who is behind the computer, so they could exploit the platform freely without disturbing the sense of community which makes most people act straight.

Having said that, I don't think we could blame the people or user on the platform, it's the system which is at fault. If we are blaming @haejin for upvoting himself, we also need to blame bidding bots and people behind it likes of @themarkymark and @therealwolf. But even if we blame them and stop them doing what they are doing, will the platform become any better? I don't think so, it will just shift to someone else exploiting the platform. People will find the void to do the bid-bot business if things are not changed, or next @haejin or @haejin2.0 will find a way out to get maximum return.

Instead of saying that people need to look at long-term, @ned or someone who gives a fuck about this platform needs to make certain changes. I personally loved the "one account - one vote" + "paying high amount for curation". It will make bots and SP obsolete and people will be eager to invest more in SMT projects to get maximum return. People won't spam enough and spend more time curating which will make the changes in trending posts making this platform look nice. But @ned won't do it, cause if he does that people will disinvest the money out of STEEM and prices will go down, ofcourse it could be stopped if @ned come out in open saying the projects will launced and people holding the steem will get airdrops much like EOS but I think even our CEO ain't looking long term. I have heard the organisation stopped working on SMTs cause spamming is a major problem growing on STEEM? Why won't it be, STEEM gurus preaches commenting, posting frequently to get success. If this platform starts paying high amounts for curation, people won't spam and will either trail @curie or take time to curate others content instead of shitposting or commenting.

Just my 2 cents.

P.S - I still feels eosDAC ain't a good idea, it maybe good inside and intention is good but first impression it gives is of vote-buying, which doesn't make EOS looks good :(. If every block producers had gone the dac way, it would have been better, cause speculater would have voted in voted out all BP frequently empowering the complete network since not everyone not going the dac way, the idea doesn't looks fine.
