It Is Done: STEEM Is A Guaranteed Success!!!
Okay here I go again with the wild proclamations.
Actually, this time I am not out on the ledge forecasting something wild. It is with sound reasoning that I make this statement. The only factor I see left standing in the way is the automatic sign up process which is coming with the next hard fork. When that takes place, STEEM just hit the point of no return.
It is the only major aspect of this blockchain that needs addressing. Getting the "on-ramp" complete finishes the highway.
Over the last few months I wrote a series of articles spelling out all the different aspects to the steem blockchain. When you look at the totality of what is taking place here, you see where things are going.
One of those articles detailed how this network would grow even if there was no marketing done at all. There is a dedicated user base of over 50K people. Here is your marketing secret: 50K people cannot keep their mouths shut. People who are making money cannot help but talk. While that might not attract tens of millions of people, it would result in consistent growth over the next few years. That is the value of a loyal, dedicated user base which STEEM has.
Many compared STEEM to MySpace. From my perspective, the only similarity between the two is that both were embraced early by the community. Each took a lead in the "new" social media eras they operated within. Of course, MySpace ended up being obliterated by Facebook resulting in a niche site.
It is impossible for something else to come along and obliterate STEEM!!!!!
The reason for this is the difference between a company and a blockchain. MySpace failed to make important strategic decisions. They were confronted with a threat and the leadership at MySpace made the wrong choice (which appeared to be the status quo).
Now what I am going to write is something that few ponder: THERE ARE NO STRATEGIC DECISIONS WITH STEEM.
Yes you read that correctly.
At this point, STEEM has the capability of 100K transactions per second. The cost of transacting is zero. This blockchain does not require proof of work validation which is causing other blockchains issues. In short, the advanced technical aspects of this blockchain are already in place. We have the content/reward system in operation with a secured wallet which includes account retrieval.
Therefore, major decisions about where to take this network are not required. We are at the point where the user base exists and is growing. At the same time, there are enough developers to ensure that new applications are created in the future.

People tend to hold onto their view of the world and look at things in a competitive lens. Bitcoin supposedly got competition from BCH and BTG. Did that really happen? Isn't Bitcoin running at more than 100% blockchain capacity? Didn't we see the price of the token hit record highs before the recent sector pullback? I believe it is still the most valuable blockchain, by a wide margin. So, did those forks really create competition?
My point is that we need to stop looking at blockchains like they are competing with each other. This is aki to saying the Chocolate ice cream is competing with the Strawberry ice cream. Instead, understand people are choosing what they like. It is all about preference.
The evolution of STEEM is not strategic in the sense of an overriding direction. Those decisions were made. Now, it is up to the community to determine what they want by their usage. Developers are continually thinking up new creations to put on here. We will continue to see that over the next few years. Which apps are ultimately embraced is decided by how many people gravitate towards them.
Getting back to the competition, this conditioned mindset instills fear, most notably what happens when the next Facebook appears. It will kill Steemit. Actually it would not. There is a chance that it would become a lot more popular with its own token. However, the 50K who are presently here would still post, comment, and upvote. Why wouldn't they? It is too profitable.
Also, the next Facebook most likely will appear on STEEM. There is a good chance that a group of developers are already creating it for this blockchain. So even if this happens, Steemians benefit.
That is the power of decentralization. Without a need for strategic decisions, people are free to create what they desire. In the end, the community decides.

How big STEEM gets remains to be seen. That cannot be predicted. However, with automated sign ups, STEEM eliminated the possibility of failure since people are presently telling others about it (something I do not see stopping). When people are making money, they share the news. Hence, STEEM is guaranteed of a consistent growth rate.
Also, with all the antics lately in the world, the move towards decentralization is only going to continue. Every time Facebook or Google get caught with their hand in the cookie jar, that is another feather in the decentralization cap. The same is true for the banksters. Each hack shows the vulnerability of unsecured systems which are not present in decentralization. And, finally, whenever someone screams about censorship, you guessed it, blockchain looks more attractive.
As I said in the title, Book It Danno......

I learned about Steemit from a daily game called Crowdini, you answer one question a day and the winners get paid in Steem.
He migrated the game to Steemit because he saw the growth potential and to help with the prize pool.
If it weren't for Jason moving Crowdini to Steemit, all of the players wouldn't have joined last year and well on their way to dolphinhood. (I hope).
I'm glad I joined when I did. I don't think it took a day to get approved, but that was Sept 2017. Now I have new friends that I follow and some follow me too. Keep on preaching Task. 😎
That's so cool to hear that the steemit platform was perfect for your gaming! The possibilities are probably going to be endless for all the uses of steemit. Good luck to you. I hope you win your game!
MONEY! After one week here on Steemit, I started spreading the word to friends/family after realizing the potential. The more I learn about the apps that are being built on the STEEM blockchain, the more excited I get about the future. Surprisingly, I thought this would be an easy sell, but I've been confronted with skepticism and lack of motivation. I've realized that one needs to have self-interest and self-motivation to be successful here at Steemit. I would love to have my friends/family join, but if they don't have the conviction, it wouldn't work out anyways. It all comes down to whether you believe or not, and I'm a believer!
You can mention it once or twice and let it go. In do time they will say oh I remember when so and so told me
About it . I thought it was a scam.
The more people talk about Steemit the more people will sign up. But there is no guarantee that everybody stays here. Many of them give up in the first month and leave the platform. It is like a big ocean and only a good swimmer can survive it :)
Sure many will leave. That is the nature of the beast.
That is why I continually refer to the 50K daily active users and not the 660K+ who signed up.
@taskmaster4450
As you said, the hacking of google, facebook, etc, that operate on the corporate model, i.e that leaves them open to security threats.
I think whats needed is a Steemit email system ...or is that possible with the way open ledger works?
your thoughts,
Appreciation*
L
Considering that email is moving towards a passe system, I am not sure I agree with that. You look at the advent of other messaging devices even in the enterprise world like slack, and I think that tells where it is going.
A messaging system would be nice although steemit.chat is that. You can leave a message for anyone on there...whether they check it or not is a different story. I also heard that Zappl is putting in an instant messenger into their app...I am not sure if it is in place or not yet.
Hahaha, Book 'em Danno!
I haven't heard that for years!!
You're absolutely right.... a Blockchain that is free and fast can not help but get development on it. Who wouldn't use a system where the infrastructure is already in place and the people are already here and everyone is already making money? I make money on this platform, but honestly, it's the friends here that keep me coming back day after day. The people I follow are so interesting... and the more interesting they are the more money they make - so this platform encourages people to make their lives interesting... the benefits to this are ten-fold!
The only reason we only have $550k users is that people just don't know about this platform, but every time people talk, and every time a Steem page ranks in the top 10 on Google, we'll hey more people.
Projects like @thefreshfive are working hard to make sure we retain those new people...
Automatic sign up would encourage people a lot. When I had to wait for 12 days for approval I almost gave up. This would encourage many others to join.
My wife also had to wait for some days. What exactly is the reason for this, are they actually verifying each person one by one?
This is a bottleneck that is slowing down the advancement of Steemit.
Yes they are using a manual verification process to prevent people from signing up multiple accounts via bot since there is steem actually handed out.
Plus, it is how they are trying to prevent spammers from signing up.
If they didnt do this, spam bot would be here by the hundreds of thousands.
I was wondering how this process worked. I was trying to explain to a friend why there was a waiting period. Your response is going to help me explain the reason better. Thanks!
I agree, when people are making money here, there's no way everyone will be quiet about it. The growth is natural by spreading the word about STEEM blockhain. I have been talking about this blockchain to all of my friends, because I just can't stop thinking about it. Indeed when automated sign ups come into play, the growth will be huge! We can only speculate, but I think we are going to see some serious shit! :)
People talk about tens of millions signing up, but when you think about it, our present growth rate, even with manual approval, is like 10% a month. Imaging a company that was growing at that rate in the "real" world, it was be the darling of Wall Street.
That is why this is huge. If the growth rate, from word of mouth, was increased to 20% based upon auto approval, that is a significant rate of growth which would amount to a big number for steem. Of course, I see a much higher rate of growth than that since the word is starting to spread to quickly.
Twice this week, we ended up in articles posted on Zerohedge which is a well read website. Sure it isnt CNN but it isnt Joe's blog either.
Yeah, the more popular STEEM is, the more attention it will get from all kinds of sources, which will lead to even more popularity and attention.
It's not gonna be long until we see the biggest websites talking about STEEM.
So far Medium and Zerohedge were the biggest.
But yes, when there are a couple million total users, I imagine it will start to creep into the mainstream news.
One big story could add hundreds of thousands of users in a short period of time.
I am wondering if there is or discussions about forming a consortium or an association of blockchain companies or interests... coordination on several long-term interests would make sense.
I would not think so at this moment.
What really needs to happen is interoperatibility between the different blockchains. At this point, there are no standards for blockchain creation. Those who work on STEEM would have to learn something totally different for ethereum.
Like the web browser a couple of decades ago, we need to find something that allows for seamless jumping from one blockchain to another. That will be the real transition.
Interesting / Thanks
Automatic sign up is not the only thing that needs addressing.. the password needs addressing too.. why can't I make my own password.. something I can remember.. instead of some random generated series of numbers letters and hieroglyphic... and there should be a way to retrieve your password in case of loss..
Then you just centralized your cryptocurrency onto a server and removed the decentralization.
What happens when that server gets hacked and everyone's password is there? The hacker can clean out all STEEM accounts that are there. This is what we see with the bitcoin hacks...nobody is hacking the blockchain but rather a database that has the keys to the accounts on the exchange. This is why nobody in their right mind keeps a lot of tokens on a centralized exchange.
So if you want to have your STEEM at risk of being stolen, then that system is worthy.
However, I prefer the power of a decentralized system where I know nobody can steal my tokens unless they get my key.
Idk... I was just thinking there was a way around that..
People just want to know if the steem blockchain will be the most successful social media blockchain because they fear investing their time and money into something that will not grow as expected. Of course, nobody knows what will happen for certain but people still search for assurance. It's more an emotional reaction that rational.
I think that allowing instant sign-ups is necessary, and will see a little less frustration in joining, which can only be a good thing. But I only had to wait about 1 day from signing-up to receiving my welcome email. If anything, it built the anticipation a little more.
I believe they have strict rules in place to stop people signing-up for multiple accounts (possibly IP address based). If they relaxed this rule I think it would be a mistake - as that would cater to spammers.
There'll always be people looking to profit without putting in the work, but you can't stop that and it's down to the community to make sure they don't get their way.
Overall I share your optimism. I can't see how Steemit would fail from here. The whole model is so much better than is available elsewhere and there's a big community heavily invested in growing it. Onward and upward!
Steemit could fail...the steem blockchain..not a chance.
Yes, the blockchain, not a chance! But I really can't see how Steemit fails either...unless there's another STEEM app which takes its place - and even then, a lot of people enjoy blogging, so even a "Facebook killer" app wouldn't necessarily kill Steemit off too.
And I think DTube probably has a bigger chance of mainstream adoption, which automatically brings people into the ecosystem.
I think besides the mouth- to- mouth marketing, we could use some influencer marketing. I am talking big shot influencers eith large user base at their reach. Today I saw something very interesting that I think opens up a door! I would be very happy if you check my article HERE and give me feedback.
Yesterday I thought that for STEEM to climb at 100$, it needs to rise only 18 times. PRETTY MANAGEABLE tbh.
Great post @taskmaster4450. Glad to see more people getting the word out about why Steemit has such a high chance of mass adoption success.
I agree with you, the single points of failure that were present in companies/platforms like MySpace are not present in blockchain based platforms like Steemit, which is great in many ways.
I am going to be doing a Steemit post series soon on my blog outside of Steemit, as well as an online course, so I will be spreading the word a lot. Thanks again for the post!
I don't care about the red market. I got steem! lol. Cheers man, gonna amazing to see when it will kick off!
The question is, where is that hard fork or any news from Steemit Inc.?
That hard fork was announced last summer. At Steemfest 2 we were promised a mobile wallet by the end of 2017 and an outlined roadmap for 2018 at the beginning of January.
Still waiting for any of these things to materialize and we have crickets from the steemitblog.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the HF won't actually activate the rapid onboarding feature upon release. It has to be activated down the road with a soft fork. Here's the quote from their last update about it.
That same update said we should have a release candidate by the end of 2017. We're almost into February at this point.....
I'm super bullish on Steem, but I really wish that Steemit Inc. would take some of that money they're powering down and hire someone to actually communicate with the community and take charge of the social media accounts which are not being used to effectively spread the word.
I agree the communication skills of the steemit team really suck....in fact they are downright awful with it.
This is a communication mechanism and none of the steemit team can post an update.
Very sad.
lol love the Hawaii Five-O reference!
Indeed the word of mouth power of those 50k dedicated is the ignition switch that will blow Steem and get people flocking to this platform!
The speed of transactions, the number that it can accommodate without breaking a sweat just shows how it can scale and be ahead of the competition!
Not to mention its innovations and 3rd party applications that are popping out each month. Whatever is out there, Steem will be able to do it and with a lot of developers I wouldn't be surprised if they make new apps and platforms and everyone else follow suit.
It is a great time to be one of the early adopters not just for the money but for the good that we will be able to do.
The sign up process has slowed down everyone I've recommended, I'm so excited to see how the quicker sign up and SMT's change the game. Hey @taskmaster4450, is there anything we should be preparing for with these new updates, like could we position ourselves to take advantage in any other way than powering up?
That is all I can think of.....we dont have full answers as to what is coming out and when.
It would speed things up miraculously. People would not forget they are waiting for something to come thru and be more apt to follow thru with the sign up process.
Word of mouth is basicall testimonials. Who could say no to that? Plus, in here, we're paid to do the same things we do on other social media sites like facebook. It's practically guaranteed people will choose the paid fun than the other. I share your positive outlook in this. And the good part is we're still in infancy and already showing fantastic results! I can't imagine the growth we'll see in the coming months and years.
@taskmaster4450 I just LOVE this Posting and STEEMIT is FULL SPEED AHEAD !!! I know they will come be cause we have Built It !!!
Well explained.
I was a fairly early adopter of both Twitter and FaceBook and I remember what it was like then. I literally was the only person in my circle that was familiar with either. Now everyone's granny is on FB and the president trolls heads of state and the media on Twitter.
This is being repeated with Steem. But this time it is something that pays. We just have to wait for the tipping point. Most people have a limit on the number of friends that tell them about something before they have to try it.
Once that threshold is reached Granny will be Steeming.
Thanks for the post.
Keep Steeming!
Just fabulous! another wonderful reading for me.
Thanks for sharing it
Go ahead steem..
Thanks for sharing your valuable concept.
Carry on my friend.
good writing. this post so helpful for us.
thanks
Great post ,we keep learning
Automatic sign-ups will sure bring big user base to the platform. I just hope we don't end-up with spammers. Just a small rise in the market and Steem blew up yesterday, imaging the market booming. Steem will fly to $15 then.
really steers, this steem will continue to grow very quickly. I myself was motivated to mem @ promo-steemit to all circles. because only social media is very useful for us all and this media can also be said to reduce the number of poverty and unemployment friend. thank you guys are friends with me.
@taskmaster4450. Steemit is a revolution in itself. I also don't see any social media platform upending Steemit,Steemit sells itself doesn't need much advertising . I foresee user interactions in Facebook and other social networking sites dropping drastically once steemit goes mainstream.
the growth of the steemit is inevitable. The mere fact that on Steemit your opinion can cost money, should encourage to register here a lot more people.
I like the fact that there are a lot of adequate and purposeful people here.
Here, unlike ordinary social networks, here we receive useful information, we can learn and receive money - it's a talk.
I cannot wait for the next fork HF20 which would change the way people are signing up on Steemit. I agree with you that when HF20 happens, daily users in Steemit are going to explode. A wonderful article to remind all of us what Steemit and the blockchain STEEM are capable of. Upvoted!
now at our place indonesia 20.00 pm @taskmaster4450 thank you with your post, for me this is very useful even though my knowledge have not got there
I can't stand it when Aki compares chocolate ice cream to strawberry ice cream. :)
Automated signups are definitely overdue. People can lose interest if they have to wait for days to have their account opened. Must be very annoying for the witness who has to keep clicking the ok button lol.
great news.i apricate your info.thanks a lot for sharing.
please go ahead.
We will reap the rewards when steem goes up to triple digit in price :)
We will see if my wife will still be laughing then.
There truly is not any similarities that can be found on steemit like other websites. This is a blockchain of data that in my belief one day be archived my the Smithsonian. We are making history here. I totally agree with you the sky is the limit for steemit. Can not wait what is in store in for the community when SMT comes live. Thanks.
The ability to create pretty much any app at all on the STEEM blockchain is a game-changer, and once you add automatic signups there's no way we can't continue growing and most likely far faster than the growth rate up to now. Imagine how fast the user base will grow if Steemit (or dTube or Zappl or some yet to be created app) goes viral...it'll be an explosion.
My first post was about how blockchains don't compete with each other. Honestly, they really seem to help each other at this point. Bitcoin is the trusted brand that gets common people to start trusting crypto. From Bitcoin people branch out to other chains.
I really agree with you about room for competition, and it being more about collaboration than competition. It's also a good point that Steem is built and driven by community and not behind closed doors like facebook and myspace. It would take a LOT for a new blockchain social publishing platform to overtake steem. Tippr and Sola seem interesting but they have very different models, and anyways there is definitely a lot of room to share! BTW excuse my ignorance but what is the steem automated signups?
This story resonates with me. I think I've told about 8 friends about Steemit already, and I've only been on it for about a month. The last time I remember doing something like that was when I found PUBG.
I think a Steem based Facebook would be interesting, but they would have to do a lot to combat corruption.
Bitcoin had to make strategic decisions when they faced challenges which were unforeseen at the time of conception and launch. There can be unforseen challenges on our way in the Steem blockchain as well. Don't you think saying 'there will be no strategic decisions' may not be entirely correct in the long run?
Magnificent article. I completely agree with Vasya Steem - a guaranteed success. Thanks for doing Steem - Better. Good luck to you and Good.
