Steemit Users Are 3X More Active Than Facebook Users!!!

in #steem10 years ago

The Steem network and Steemit.com have shown us that they have tremendous potential for growth. We have seen explosive growth of the userbase, along with massive growth of posts, votes, comments, and transfers per day. Not to mention the screaming rise in market cap that we recently witnessed.

Steemit is generating an extremely active, loyal userbase.

Part of the reasons for this are built into the blockchain protocol themselves. There is a reason it was decided that vested Steem Power could only be powered down over a course of two years. In a way, this forces users to keep coming back, but in another way, I personally believe that this builds a perception of long-term commitment among the users. I believe there is another reason that the Steemit userbase is exceptionally active and loyal: Steem helps to show people that their voices and opinions have value. This brings me to the exciting statistic of the day:

Steem users are more than 3 times more active than Facebook users!

Feel free to use this graphic!

Let's take a quick look at the breakdown of the numbers:

Facebook:

Total active users: 1.65 billion
Total likes per day: 4.5 billion
Total status updates per day: 422 million
Total pictures posted per day: 300 million
Total comments per day: 734,400
Total actions per day: 5.22 billion

Steem:

Total active users (last 7 days): 12,045
Total posts+replies+edits per day: 27,093
Total votes per day: 75,527
Total transfers per day: 2,233
Total POWs per day: 1,366
Total actions per day: 116,208

Now if we compare the number of actions per day, we find:

Number of actions per day for average Facebook user: 3.17
Number of actions per day for average Steem user: 9.65!!!

Steem users are more than 3 times more active than Facebook users!!!

I'm sure that this is only just the beginning for this exciting platform. I will keep following the situation and post new exciting statistics whenever I can find them. In the mean time: Power Up!!!

Thanks for indicating we could use that graphic. I have done so. I appreciate it!

Steemlife.

And facebook will be thinking more for steemit :)

Will facebook join steemit? all could happen

Perhaps it could be, steemit have different media social innovation :)

It's possible to create a NEW Facebook on top of the Steem network :)

but anything can happen, should it be cooperation :)

Yes if Zuck want, why not? :)

Wow, that's some great info there. Very interesting to see that Steemit users are more active. :)

Great analytics of the two websites! I think the environment and rewards system here really has people getting involved.

I couldn't agree more. Are there potential problems and kinks with the platform? Sure, but there are with everything, and I'm convinced that the devs are passionate about making this thing the best that it can be.

Well, I don't ever go to my Facebook page anymore. I don't even know why I keep it active.

Steemit is just streets ahead for my purposes.

The audience, functionality and aim of both are not quite the same I would say.

Still, Steemit gets my vote over Facebook for sure.

I totally agree! The thing is, the Steem network can easily power new apps along side steemit.com with many different potential audiences and functionalities. You could even replace Facebook on the Steem network with an app with the exact same audience and functionality.... except with all the benefits of Steem included! :)

Reward on the steem platform is a powerful source of motivation, your post prove it with simple maths. It's however sad that a lot of these activities aren't quality content.

Agreed. I guess it will be that way with any social media platform. A lot of spam everywhere. I think some benevolent whales are running anti-spam bots to help out.

spam is everywhere!
just don't upvote it, even if the SD value is high to get a good curation reward.

That's right, but Stemians have to get used with the downvote too. That may be the bad habit from Facebook where people only have the possibility to "like" posts.

downvote is actually "not worth it", because you'll waste your voting power vs time (see pag19 https://steem.io/SteemWhitePaper.pdf). So it's better for all to don't downvote a post, even if you don't like it

I bet the 3x amount will change so much more, while other social platforms continue to drop.

I love Bill and Ted!

Who doesn't :D Those guys are eeeeeexcellent!

Well written and researched! The reason people being to active is: everybody wants to be sucessful and earn money. so if i spend my time on a social network, it better paid me something back ;). Your numbers are interesting, but lets face it, we all did spent the whole day on facebook in the past. we have to see how steemit will do its job to not get irrelevant for people. i think the system is great, so i see a good chance steemit reaching 100.000.000 Users within 2 years.

if you have time, please have a look at my last post its about facebook the evil corp:
https://steemit.com/facebook/@knozaki2015/facebook-not-allowing-users-to-download-their-photo-albums-but-here-is-how-to-do-it-anyway

You should not be wrong. Have not seen my facebook since I started on Steemit. Was so into reading good articles by many of you. Thank you. Keep steeming guys! Sorry, m just silent reader.

Really, Stiimit Users more active now.
Because come who love to try new things.

Consider that using facebook and "wasting" a lot of people can make people feel guilty (myself included). Steemit counteracts this by the payout. It is hard to truly consider it wasting time if I am making money doing it. However, I still trying to rebalance my life post-steem.
