Most aren't really aware of the fact that life is a game and even less are aware that not playing is the only way to win at it. It is stimulating to think that you're winning by going the "try-hard" path, for a time. Then you get old, have less energy, and, through one means or another, you grow wise enough to see the foolishness of your past efforts. Then you die.
Having ideals and fighting for them, whether mindfully or mindlessly, is fundamentally ONLY a means to pass time, which is really only there (time) to allow energy to transfer to its next stage in this slow death (of the universe).
Heat dissipates into a cold hell, consuming all with it. Until, many billions of years into the future, there is nothing and no one to complain about it.
