Were just concerned with new apps that will join that will not have the funds to make accounts. This will have an effect on new application creation for sure. I understand smt's targets big boys but why make an app or app with the feature for registration if the ability to create accounts goes up by 30x.
This is kinda insuring the dominating position for steemit inc as the main account creator for Steem. It don't effect our application much but this will force account creation to only a few select sites basically centralizing account creation for those with the most funds.
EDIT:
if we delegate power to said users will they be able to generate those account creation tokens? It would be cool if we could do that, so we can basically gift account creation to applications and projects, this would also get rid of the concern of account creation centralization.
That’s a cool idea. I will mention it to the devs.
Btw there is nothing stopping any application developer from creating a referral program where users pay to sign up their friends, and then get a small portion of their author rewards when they use the site. IMO that is the most scalable solution to signups long term.
Yeah i was thinking referral system as well for account creation. We were just going to offer a cut of the beneficiaries, i guess this could be a benefit for those who pay for their friends accounts.
