You still need to find a suitable pole / rod and get some bait.
To use an aluminum tube, you will need something to punch a hole into the end of the tubing with or sap from a tree for glue or the string will slip off the end of the pipe. You could search the trees for a suitable stick, onto which you can securely tie the string. There are options, but they must be reasonably realistic.
