Of course SMTs and communities will give a great boost to steem's price and will encourage the ecosystem to grow. What I think will really help the steem blockchain to shine is the fact it can handle a lot of activity with ease as opposed to ETH and BTC. The crypto kitties mania has proven the limitation of the ETH blockchain and smart investors will take note.
Another big driver for growth will be content creators like youtubers who are sick of youtube demonetizing their content for no good reason and relying on patreon for a steady income stream. I've seen even bigger youtubers ( 500.000 plus subscribers ) resort to patreon donations. Dtube and Dlive once they mature will certainly appeal to many struggling content creators.
With that being said I expect at least a x10 price increase. We shall probably see steem's price between $20 and $100 in a year's time.
