Today I will write about the Vargas Venezuela Tragedy.
Man is the only living species on planet that destroys the environment where he lives, and nat nature always reminds us how big and devastating it can be.
Natural disasters that take the lives of thousands of people, as was the case of the State Vargas Venezuela 1999 a great landslide.
On the night of December 15 to 16, 1999, the worst natural disaster in Venezuela's history occurred in the state of Vargas, caused by torrential rains that generated floods of ravines, sediment and rock drag and high intensity flows, with gravel consequences in terms of death and destruction, which should not be forgotten in order to insist on the need for prevention to avoid this type of tragedy.
This fact appears in the Guinness book of records as the highest number of fatalities by an avalanche of mud.2
The areas most affected by the natural disaster of December 15, 16 and 17 are the coasts of the Vargas, Miranda and Falcón states. Thousands of people were displaced and entire villages were devastated, among the infrastructure lost by the disaster are universities, large hotels, clubs, important communities, roads, among others.
Even when the inhabitants were warned of this tragedy, they doubted the force of nature.
President Hugo Chávez quoted the words of Simón Bolívar, pronounced on March 26, 1812 (in the middle of the struggle for independence), over the ruins of a temple minutes after a strong earthquake in Caracas: "If nature opposes, we will fight against her and we will make her obey us. "
