The salvation army is a international movement of an evangelical part of the universal christian church. It's message is based on the bible, it's mission is to preach the gospel of jesus christ to the whole world and to meet human needs in his name without descrimination.
The salvation army was founded by minister william booth a one time methodist reform church in 2nd July 1865 but note that it was first known as the christian mission and an incident about their charitable and humanitarian work brought william booth, and his son brownwell booth and together and they came up with the phrase with volunteer army" but William booth replaced the phrase with salvation and it was called the salvation army and that was how the name " the salvation army was brought out in the year 1878.
In Nigeria it was brought into nigeria by Lieutenants colonel George H Scouter in Lagos in the year 1920.
