That we may know that living a life that pleases God is highly beneficial.
King David is the most respected man in the history of the people in Israel. He reigned over Israel for forty years. His long reign was later regarded as Israel's 'golden age'. According to 1Samuel 16:1-13, David was the youngest son of Jesse. Saul had taken him into his service as his armor bearer (1Samuel 16:14-23). He was later officially presented to King Saul as a hero, having killed the Philistine giant Goliath (1Samue1 17).
Worried that David was trying to take the throne from him, Saul turned on David. He was made king after the death of Saul. David conquered Jerusalem, made it the capital of the united kingdom of Israel and Judah and brought the Ark of the Covenant into it, thereby establishing the kingdom that Saul had founded.
WHY IS DAVID CALLED A MAN AFTER GOD'S HEART?
This expression, found in 1 Samuel 13:13-14, can be interpreted as a man who would not rebel or disobey God as King Saul did (1Samuel 15:10-17), but would do the will of God and keep His commandments. Here are some qualities that made David a man after God's heart:
He was a man of total obedience to God (Acts 13:21-23).
He forgot self and lived to please only the Master. He was always thinking about God and others, before himself.
a) He confronted Goliath at the risk of his own life and demonstrated his faith in God (1 Samuel 17: 34-37).
b) David accepted to play harp for the relief of King Saul, despite the risk associated with that service (1 Samuel 18:10-11; 19:9-10; 20:33).
c) David had opportunities to kill King Saul but he spared kill King Saul but he spared his life (1 Samuel 24:3-7; 26: 1- 12).He generously demonstrated hospitality to a prisoner of war (1Samuel 30:11-15).
David was forgiving and he had a large heart:
a) He forgave Saul's attempt at his life (1 Samuel 24:5-7).
b) He forgave Nabal following the entreaty of Abigail on his behalf (1 Samuel 25).
c) David forgave Absalom's conspiracy at overthrowing him.He was a man of praise, selfless sacrifices and deep meditation on God's word, as is evident from many of the psalms he wrote.
When he sinned, he genuinely appropriated the grace of God to confess and repent (2Samuel 12: 13, 14).
a) He committed adultery with Bathsheba and subsequently planned the murder of Bathsheba's husband, Uriah (2 Samuel).
b) He counted the people against the will and instruction of God
(1 Chronicles 21:1-8).

David was named "a man after God's heart" not because he was perfect. It was because, despite all his flaws, he possessed qualities that made God look on him with favour. Let us also establish in our hearts the fear of God in obedience to his word, and the habit of love and care for the people around us.
The questions here is? Are we living by example, is our lives like David.
Everything you have shared about David is indeed true. He is a man that I really admire for his continuous thanksgiving, worship and praise to God. A man who never does anything until he had sought God's permission or inquired from God. These qualities are worthy of emulation. May the good Lord give us more grace to live a life that pleases and touches His heart.
David had many imperfections but passion, love and fear for God led him to surrender to God! Thanks for your teachings!

One of the ways David touched GOD'S heartbeats through his undiluted worship.

I also wrote a post about something similar.
"WHY WE SHOULD HAVE AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD".
And I explained how Our Heavenly Father desires for us to commune with Him through worship and fellowship.

David was a man after God’s own heart because he demonstrated his faith and was committed to following the Lord. Yes, his faith was tested on a grand scale, and he failed at times. But after his sin he sought and received the Lord’s forgiveness. In the final analysis, David loved God’s Law and sought to follow it exactly. As a man after God’s own heart, David is a role model for all of us.
the examplary steps set by king david should be emulated by everyone, he found the way into Gods heart by his obedience forgiveness and abiding to the right principles.
David was a man of Praise
David loved the Lord,..... We must too!
But one thing is certain David had a soul that could be touched with truth. He was unafraid to admit his transgressions. He broke his own heart by his lapses of spirituality. One only has to read his psalms of penitence (e.g., Psa. 32; 51) to sample the tenderness that adorned his spirit.
It is very important the part that says that even though he was not a perfect man, God saw in the qualities that highlighted him, that is why although born of imperfections and sin we are surrounded, if really in our heart there is goodness and good feelings God will always be there, and although he says nothing, the graces of his spirit will be in our place, giving us his blessings.
Nobody Is Without Defects, Everyone Have Some Kind Of Defects, So As David, But Later On He Devoted Himself To God, That Means Alot.
David never looked at the problem of things, he was always thinking that Jehovah was going to intercede for him, and it is not that he never felt fear, as my heart says it is afflicted but I trust in a divine intervention so it was David God bless you good word
Of all his qualities i appreciated points 5 and 6 so much. A king given to music. His psalms has been a source of inspiration to so many gospel singers including me and to see a king accept and acknowledge his wrongs like David did and take full responsibility for it, is worthy of emulation. Remember that even Adam our first father failed to do so but pushed the blame to God.
I really want to be a David of my era..
Great post and glory to God
He was called this because he always strived to return to God after he faltered with a humble and contrite heart
