“And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing.” – Acts 10:30.
Fasting is tuning your spirit to pick signals from Heaven. Sometimes the flesh can get in the way of hearing from God. Fasting subdues the flesh and elevates your spirit. It also helps you to focus or concentrate on spiritual things. In other words, it acts as a laser beam.
Cornelius was fasting and praying when an angel of God appeared to him.
Fasting strengthens your spirit man. Through fasting and prayers one receives power. Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights to connect with power and afterward He began His ministry. He operated with supernatural speed such that He was able to finish His assignment in three and half years.
Fasting and prayers break forth gladness and joy. Zechariah 8:19 (NIV) says, “This is what the Lord Almighty says: "The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth and peace.” Anyone who engages in a lifestyle of fasting and prayers is never heavy hearted.
Fasting and prayers bring deliverance. The fast of the Jews including Mordecai, Esther and her maidens brought deliverance to them. Furthermore, fasting fortifies you. If you can fast, you can exercise self-control over any situation. Fasting makes you operate in a high frequency of revelation. Light breaks forth in your spirit. Do not slack in fasting, do it often and you will be amazed at how your life turns out to be.
