Life is a factor of several decisions. Who you are is a factor of the decisions you have made. Your future is only as powerful as the decision you will make today.
What is Decision?
a conclusion or resolution reached after consideration.
There are many reasons why someone would be in a fix.
When I talk about fix, I am referring to a situation where someone is in a cross road. Cross roads are times in a man’s life where you are under serious pressure to make a decision that will launch you in to the next phase of your life.
This time is the most difficult time in a man’s life.
It is in times like this that men lose touch with destiny because of wrong decisions, in times like this, people die mysteriously and other nemeses befall people in times like this.
The reason why these things happen in time when we are in a fix is because we fail to ask necessary questions before taking a life decisions.
You don’t experiment life, you live life.
For everything on earth, there is an how to do it. Knowing the how is winning over the game.
Just like there are instructions guiding every video game we play, there are also many instructions that govern life.
You don’t have success in making decisions because you are a good thinker but you have success in decisions making because you are a good counsel seeker.
Now let’s look at the basics for Decision Making:
I would love you to meditate on these scriptures. You can choose any of these verses that rest upon your heart.
Where there is no counsel, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Prov. 11:14
Every time men fall in their plans, they fall because there was no sufficient counsel before they started out in making their decisions and plans.
Our failure is not all together measured by our seeming laziness but also by our inability to humble ourselves and seek counsel.
Few years after I was done with secondary school I wanted to organize a free computer training for the secondary school students of my Alma Mata and the plan failed because i lack counsel. Before now I had not yet known that in making plans, I had to seek counsel and so the whole plan failed not because it was not at heart or there was no adequate funding for the program.
…but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise. Prov. 12:15
Now I just told us of how a life changing decision or plan failed because I didn’t go for counsel. I want us to also know that it is one thing to go for counsel but yet another to deliberately and consciously follow those counsels.
That you seek counsel does not make you wise. What makes you wise is that you engage or war with the counsel that is at your disposal.
Without counsel, purpose is disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established. Prov. 15:22
Self explanatory. The reason for our failure is lack of counsel.
Hear counsel, receive instructions, that thou mayest be wise in thy later end. Prov. 19:21
You don’t make decisions before going for advice or counsel; you go for counsel first of all before making decision.
There are hidden wisdom for all we set out our hearts to do. Go for wisdom first before taking a decision.
Wisdom comes through counsel.
Show me a man that has never sort for counsel before but succeed and I will tell you that his success is only for a while.
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep waters; but a man understanding will draw it out. Prov. 20:5
Just like I had earlier said “that simply because you seek counsel does not make you wise”
Now the truth is that counsels are like raw materials but your understanding is what gets those counsels refined into finished products.
No matter how instructed you are, if you don’t live out those instructions it is of no value both to you and to your world.
counsel lived out becomes a principle for others to follow but counsels in the heart not followed remains a history to tell.
Every purpose is established by counsel: with good advice make war. Prov. 20:18
So whenever you receive an advice, don’t just keep it, engage it. War with it.
Please remember that every fix times we go through in life is simply because we fail to go for counsel.
Seek counsel before making decisions.
Counsels will exempt us from a life time of vexations. Whenever we make decision that doesn’t work out for us, we fill depressed.
