Why be thankful?

Sometimes life gets very difficult and, sometimes the last thing we want to do is be thankful or as our text says, “Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving in our Hearts”. This is a matter of our heart, not of our circumstances.

God does not need our praise, worship, appreciation. He knows it is for our good to have a Grateful Heart.

Psa 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Psa 100:2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Psa 100:3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Psa 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Psa 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of the good that is in our life. It is so easy and normal to concentrate on the bad or challenging things in our lives. It requires discipline to praise when things are falling apart. We have to remind ourselves that we are not facing these things because God is mad at us. And He is most likely not the source of your hardship. Much of the time we are facing the consequence of our own decisions the actions of others. But one thing I know, God is the answer and His mercies are everlasting in Christ Jesus.

Psa 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

If our focus is our problem, most of the time we will never see the solution. When our focus is God and His Mercies, we begin to see the solution, covered by the finished Work of Jesus on the cross of Golgotha. (Calvary)

Sometimes all we have is a Sacrifice of Praise

Jer 33:11 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.

Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

This is where I will end this study for today.
Tomorrow we will look more at Thanksgiving

Blessings!
