What does the Bible says?

in #steemchurch6 years ago (edited)

Good morning steemians, hope you had a lovely night rest. I woke up this morning to study God's word when I stumbled on the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 6 verses one and two. It says

I have seen another evil under the sun, and it weighs heavily on mankind; (verse 2)God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.
I have tried to meditate on what this portion of the scriptures mean, but I wasn't able to get anythingh. I would love to hear the opinion of the parishioners of the steemchurch on what they think of this passage of the scriptures, but before then let me share what I think.

I feel that God has freely bestowed upon man kind all good things, but God not granting man the ability to enjoy them tells us that man Most die one day and then all his riches are shared among those that didn't labour for it. I pray that God will cause this words to grow fruits in our lives through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please don't forget to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

When you read that book of Eccleisiastes Chapter 6 down to verse 9, it completes the narration.

What good are riches, glory, long life, and even a large family if circumstances prevent us from enjoying them? And “better is the seeing by the eyes,” or facing realities, than “the walking about of the soul [“soulful desire,” footnote],” that is, striving to gratify desires that are impossible to satisfy. The best way to live, then, is to be content with “having sustenance and covering” while enjoying wholesome things in life and focusing on maintaining a close relationship with God.

When verse 2 says "but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them" it means that God hasn't given us everlasting life yet, due to our imperfect state.

For clarification, I used 2 bible translations KJV & NWT.

We enjoy bible discussions at SteemChurch.

Seems you are new here, do well to read other SteemChurch articles ao you wouldn't miss your way.

We would love to see what otger parishioners think about the bible verses.

@midknight you've started a bible study here. (smiling!)

Before I say my opinion on this, I would like us to look at the same scriptural text in other translations:

Ecclesiastes 6:1-2 (AMP)

here is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it weighs heavily on men: 2 a man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor, so that he lacks nothing of all that he desires, yet God has not given him the power or capacity to enjoy them [all those things which are gifts from God], but a stranger [in whom he has no interest succeeds him and] enjoys them. This is vanity and it is a [cause of] great distress.

Ecclesiastes 6:1-2 NLT)

There is another serious tragedy I have seen under the sun, and it weighs heavily on humanity. 2 God gives some people great wealth and honor and everything they could ever want, but then he doesn’t give them the chance to enjoy these things. They die, and someone else, even a stranger, ends up enjoying their wealth! This is meaningless—a sickening tragedy.

The scriptures you pointed out, in my understanding, is telling us in subtle terms that every man, whether Christian or non-Christian will die physically someday, somehow; and when this happens, it marks the end of one’s ability to apparently enjoy whatever materials possession he or she has been blessed with, be it money, power, gold, just to mention a few.

And importantly, it is telling us about the futility and limit of life our mortal bodies can experience. That no matter how much an individual has in his or her bank account, or the number of children he or she has, educational degrees he or she, etc., man will remain empty if he doesn’t have the hope of eternal life in and through Christ Jesus.

Hence, to the natural man, the evil thing is death!
"Vanity upon vanity, all is vanity!" Says King Solomon.

Thanks for sharing.
kind regards.

The bible will always keep speaking to us about how God wants His children to be and also live their lives....it is better to do follow the principles of God for blessing then to use your strength which we will leave everything behind

God is the giver of everything.
It is possible for someone to acquired wealth on earth by trying to outsmart the plans of God for such.
We see many people that went ahead and do money rituals just to get wealth. Truth be told, no one can get any wealth except being given by God, their desire will be granted but they wont live to enjoy it due to their ways.

If you are on the Lord's side and gather your wealth according to the ways of the Lord, you will surely live to enjoy it and be a blessing to other people

This is mystery and this is God. He is unquestionable.
God bless you for sharing this.
SHALOM!

GOD is the giver of all things!
But man should not focus of his possessions but on his God!

God grants us all we need, but we are the ones that choose life, happiness, faith or unbelief. Even love is a choice! Some people say they fell in love and later fell out of love. They just chose not to love any more. I was on vacation one time years ago on a tropical island with turquoise water and white sand. There was a lady at the hotel, all she could do is complain. If God made the choice for us to be happy, then we would be like robots! He provides the raw materials, we have to make something out of it.

Thanks for sharing these bible accounts of forgiveness with SteemChurch.
