Apostle Paul having admonished Timothy on personal comportment and continuance in the faith (2 Timothy 2,3). He warm about youthful lusts:
2 Timothy 2:22 King James Version (KJV)
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
He also went further by telling how wax and cold the believers will be as times goes on
2 Timothy 3: 1-4 KJV
1. his know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Paul now charged him on commitment to the great commission. “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and the kingdom; Preach the word…” (2 timothy 4:1, 2)
Like a military command the charge is not negotiable. Believers should take this charge as a must- and adhere patiently to this great command.
Remember our lord Jesus Christ, a practical example gave us this charge also in
Mark 16:15
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
It is a must for every believer to carry out this charge. In 2 Timothy 3:11
11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
He also charge them about arising persecution. It is very important that we understand the fact that challenges and persecution will arise. (Jesus, Paul, Peter, Stephen were all witness of persecution). But in verse 11b “But out of them all the Lord delivered me.” Meaning challenges, persecution will come but when you hold on and endure, God will definitely deliver you. Endurance, perseverance, and patience are the keys.
Why Believers Must Be Committed to Preaching The Gospel.
- “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). We must understand that as a believer preaching the word of God is not an option but a must. Failing to obey this command means you are disobeying God.
- So that His death on the cross will not be in vain: “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten son” (John 3:16). Jesus Christ left his throne in Heaven just to come and die for us that through His death we might be free, He suffered just to die for you and I. why do you want his sufferings on the cross to be in vain?
- Souls are perishing: whether you like or not people are swimming in sin with no one to reach out to them. Take a bold step and save a soul from eternal damnation
- There is a Reward for every soul won: “likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the Angels of the God over one sinner that repenteth’’ (Luke 15:10)
I charge you all to wake up from slumber and carry out this great charge of reaching out. My fellow members and very believer reading to start reaching out to the dieing souls in whatever way possible. You can reach out to a soul today as you go out in your day to day activities (be it at your work place etc)
Through the internet: Thank God for the global world that we are in or through reaching out in arms to the helpless and sick ones, professing the love of God to them.
