Christmas from a Different Perspective

Luk 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Contextual Verses Provided

Luk 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Luk 1:34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
Luk 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Luk 1:36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
Luk 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Luk 1:38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Mary was told that the Holy Spirit would overshadow her and she would carry a son and His Name would be called Jesus. She willingly carried this baby, even living with the shame of being pregnant without having a husband as she was only engaged to Joseph. She carried Jesus to term, somewhere close to 9 months. It was a huge honor, but coming with this honor is a huge price.

Mary’s purpose was to bring the human body of Jesus into this world. She raised Him as any mother would raise a son. Even though He came in flesh and blood, there was little normal about this boy who was born for one reason. To die for mankind!

Similarities to Mary and to all who follow Christ

WHEN WE WERE BORN AGAIN, WE OVERSHADOWED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT AND BECAME VESSELS OR CARRIERS OF THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Like Mary, we are to carry Jesus! Like Mary, we need to show Him to the world.

For me, I think for the true Christian the story is alive every day. The day Jesus was born into our hearts. The day we became His and He became ours. This message of Christ should come with the power of the risen Lord. This message is the only good news available for all of mankind. We represent Christ! We are carriers of Christ. We have the same message! Like Mary we have our own responsibility to let that seed mature so we accurately represent Him to this lost and dying world. He is in us and we are in Him.

Christmas for me began 37 years ago when I was born again and Christ was born in me.

Gal 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
