A Lesson For Steemians From Queen Esther - Esther 2:7-15

The Bible says very little about the parents of Esther. However, we learn from Esther Chapter 2, that Esther was an orphan who lived with her cousin Mordecai. Although being her cousin, Mordecai treated Esther as his own daughter.

Now in this article, we would consider a few of the many noteworthy things about Esther and see lessons we can learn from her fine example.

At Esther 2:7, the Bible says of Esther;

7 He was the guardian of Ha·dasʹsah, that is, Esther, the daughter of his father’s brother, for she had neither father nor mother. The young woman was beautifully formed and attractive in appearance, and at the death of her father and her mother, Morʹde·cai took her as his daughter.

Did you notice the way the Bible describes Esther?, the bible says she was beautiful in form and attractive in appearance. She was so pretty and beautiful that even the king's servants, who were searching for young virgins in the land to replace Queen Vashti who enraged the king, noticed her and took her along with other young virgins to the grand palace of Persia to be selected by the King.

Although Esther was very beautiful, she was never proud. She didn't allow her beauty get into her head, and she did not behave arrogantly towards the other women and Hegai who was put in charge of all the young women. Her beauty DID NOT puff her up.

Even before they were brought before the King, Esther and the other women were asked to choose from a variety of ornaments and wears, perhaps to enhance their beauty. What did Esther do? Let's read Esther 2:15;

15 And when the turn came for Esther the daughter of Abʹi·ha·il the uncle of Morʹde·cai, who had taken her as his daughter, to go in to the king, she did not request anything except what Hegʹa·i the king’s eunuch, the guardian of the women, recommended. (All the while Esther was winning the favor of everyone who saw her.)

Even though she had the opportunity to request anything she wanted to enhance her beauty, she stuck with only the things recommended by Hegai, the guardian of the women. From this we see that Esther was modest and humble. She knew that true beauty is not what appears to the eyes but the quality of the person within. The true person of the heart. No wonder Esther won the favour of everyone who saw her, even the king. The Bible says the king found favour in her and he chose her to be his Queen.

Esther didn't stop being modest and wise even when she was Queen. If you do a study on Esther's life as Queen, you'll see that she remained humble and continued to listen to Mordecai. Esther was beautiful, both outwardly and inwardly.

Can we learn from Esther's fine example? Well the answer is yes. Today, it is easy for us to become proud and arrogant because of our looks. Yes because we are so beautiful, or so handsome, it becomes easy for us to look down on people who aren't. Well Esther's example teaches us that true beauty comes from within. It is reflected from a modest and humble heart. See what the Bible says about this at Proverbs 11:22;

22 Like a gold ring in the snout of a pig is a beautiful woman who rejects good sense.

The Bible presents a balanced view of physical beauty, describing it as a gold ring, yes as something delightful, but if not coupled with wisdom and humility, it breeds vanity, pride and other ugly traits of the heart

There is more to learn from Esther. Even when she became Queen, she remained humble and continued to listen to advice from Mordecai. The lesson?, we should not look down on others because of our position, wealth or social status. In God's eyes we are equal. We should treat people fairly and properly.Treat others the way you want to be treated.

VERY IMPORTANT LESSON
Steemians must also learn something from Esther. Our reputations should never make us look down on others who are upcoming. Whales , dolphins or other big reputation steemians must try never look down on minnows who are trying to climb the ladder. Let's all maintain the spirit of modesty and humility. Pride is something that God hates, we must never allow pride to make lose God's favour. Let us imitate Esther, and our heavenly father will continue to bless us superabundantly.

Thanks for sharing this bible account. Queen Esther is definitely one I want to imitate. Her faith is outstanding. Mordecai also proved to be a good associate, we have to surround ourselves with good associates. God can also use us to save many.

Exactly bro. Thanks for including Mordecai.
The truth is , as we read, its important we all apply the lessons.

We should all emulate Queen Esther despite her reputation, she wasn't proud.

Esther had beauty with the brain. She was brave, that is why she was able to save the lives of God's servants in her time. Thanks for the faith-strengthening writeup.

That's right. I like the part where you said, "beauty with the brains". Thats what counts actually. Thanks for sharing.

Esther exhibit a good example of a humble servant which all christain should exhibit.... basically the act of being humble is a thing of good virtue .

If you've ever wandered for an example of a virtuous woman, queen Esther was a virtuous woman and every woman should learn from her ways because it pleases God

Easther was one of the women in the binle who did not in any way shy away from her duties and she is an example of a virtuos woman.

Great write up about the meekness and humble self of esther,we all should emulate her good nature and kindness,above her ability to stay humble!

I discovered that humility is the key to claiming heights,a diligent and humble person will surely stand before kings and not ordinary people.Esther displayed that attitude is the key to altitude

Esther reached a crossroads of faith. Dare she stand up for the Lord and His chosen people? Or would she just blend into society as Persian royalty? Sometimes we must choose to take a strong stand for God. When we do, He will give us courage and reward our respect for His best.
