testnet.steemd.com now available

in #steemd6 years ago (edited)

Steemit launched a testnet for HF20 so that upcoming features and changes could be tested ahead of time. It will be used to test upcoming features and hardforks like RC changes and SMT's. Accounts and transactions are mirrored from the main network in an attempt to simulate real-world conditions. The testnet is rebooted often; nothing on it is permanent. More details about the testnet.

For developers and testers I've launched https://testnet.steemd.com/, a window into this parallel network. It's provided on an as-is basis for now. The colors are obnoxious to prevent confusion about which chain you're looking at.

That is awesome! Thank you for all your hard work keeping steemd up and running!

Thank you for availing to us such an amazing tool in Steemd. I have been sort of curious though, what does it take to get a delegation from you?Your choice of delegatees is rather interesting, I believe I bring quality content (mostly dtube & steemhunt), and an extra delegation would be of great support. Not that I expect feedback, but should you be interested in a philanthropic mood/looking for new creators to support , feel free to check my profile or I am also on discord elsiekjay#4996. May this be the xmas gift I've been asking for @roadscape 😂

Words that make bold to go after what I want. Greetings from Nairobi, Kenya.

Cool! Is it possible to launch also steemit.com copy that operates on testnet?

Steemit's official testnet-condenser currently resides here: https://condensertestnet.steemitdev.com/

We are doing this right now at https://steemtest.com , later we are planning to make additional motivation for Stakeholders (all Steem users) to test new hard/soft forks here and report bugs and make pull requests.

Great stuff, will use it for sure :)

Nice job!

@roadscape, this is an amazing thing you have done here. We have started a group on discord with many witnesses to run own testnet, which aims to
motivate regular users to send test transactions to the testnet.

Utopian agreed to rewards people for submitting bugs or pull requests, too.

At the moment I have set up test websites to point to official Steemit testnet with condenser at https://steemtest.com. @bobinson is in the process of setting up the full node.

Will be glad to have your expertise. Our discord channel: https://discord.gg/QhfMUp5

Awesome, thanks! These are the environments that need to occur so we can break them for updates and figure out what broke it. Huge improvement!

Can we transfer our SP from the testnet to the mainnet 😂😂😂

Great new tool out there that will make the tests of the new versions much easier and ready to be updated. I love testing, do you think that there is a place for a tester to earn some steems around - are there any such projects???

Thank you so much for merging my pull request: Steem Python library sbd_to_rshares bugfix and thank you for maintaining steemd!

One suggestion for steemd is how about showing haircut ratio together with feed price. Of course, we can calculate it, but it's much better if that info is shown together. Related post is here: Why SBD print rate is still 1% despite the haircut? Bug report, explanation, and suggestions Thanks again!

btw, could you add steem-python to utopian-io bug-report whitelist?
My utopian post https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@blockchainstudio/steem-python-library-sbdtorshares-bugfix was rejected since it's not in the whitelist. Of course, I'm very happy that mine is merged and thanks a lot for that again.

Voting isn't important and we also have beem library, but I believe official python library should also be maintained. Thanks again!

Thank you :) I've just made two more contributions. One fix (MacOS native build instruction) and an issue (MacOS Docker build).
