Welcome Hardfork 20, its been interesting reading the disappointment and excitement around the hardfork. One of the obvious drawbacks of Hardfork 20 from the data I have been analyzing are "decrease user interaction" and lack of voting. If you like me, you have to save your "Credits" because you got accustom to sharing your thoughts in a blog and the fear of not having enough "Credits" to perform that said function is not something I like to deal with. On the flip side of things, I realized we have a "commodity" that's in demand, and I certainly like to put a price on it and sell it on the internal exchange.
If we all agree that Resource Credits is the way forward, I would like to suggest witnesses and Steemit team consider opening a market that is trade-able against Steem or SBD. I notice the Steem accounts "Resource Credit" is sitting by and folks who seriously want to continue transacting may consider buying Resource Credits from others who are not active. It can become a lucrative side market, think about it, I be encourage to power up, I be able to earn from delegation and my Resource Credit holding.
Lets be honest, I realize Hardfork 20 is all about increasing Steem value, it did not go as plan or probably it did but the reaction from it wasn't expected. Its all free-market, lets embrace it, for once, the spammy comments have gone so that something good. My proposal is quite simple, Resource Credits is in demand, lets make it trade-able on the internal market. On the side note, I realize interacting on the internal exchange also drains, probably we should implement some exception there if we to have better price discovery for native Steem/SBD and future Resource Credit/Steem or Resource Credits/ SBD.
Am I a greedy and selfish capitalist or is this a recommendation that should be taken seriously??????
Currently the only way to sell RC is over the MinnowBooster market via SP delegation: https://www.minnowbooster.net/market
Be sure that once you can trade RC we will offer a market for it :)
THanks for adding to the discussion, it would be nice to have RC stand on its own as well as SP, that way you have two commodity that you can trade, if you have SP you can delegate and if you have extra RC you can also sell...
Glad to see that the initiative is already there to provide the service once it becomes available
I think it would be good to consider this. I'm not sure RCs are transferrable or ever could be. They just might be the result of a calculation based on Steem Power and past history of platform usage. Since Steem Power Can be delegated, maybe HF20 would surface a need for a decentralized peer to peer delegation market at market prices. Just a thought and not fully baked but it came to mind. :)
Well thanks for adding to the discussion, I like the idea of a decentralized peer to peer delegation market at market prices, we see how these things work out... I believe RC is transferable and once its transferable, you can always attach a market to it....
Great idea! The only downside is that it could increase transactions further on the Steem blockchain (I heard that this might bring a problem in the future), and secondly it makes the Steem ecosystem yet again more complicated (Steem, SP, RC, SBD, all interconnected). For an experienced user OK, but for newbies this could be overwhelming and off-turning. And isn´t the plan still to attract more people to the platform? I am not sure about this assumption anymore after they increased the level of entry commitment for potential new users. But if no new users, who will pay the yearly inflation? Too confusing.
While it would probably be great, I doubt it will happen independently from your SP as it would potentially give too much power to the holders of plenty of SP and RC. Me being a Dolphin account have been seeing that sonce the patches have been deployed, RC is not only abundant but it also recharges pretty quickly. Before this is considered I am sure that the use of it to transact will continue to evolve and adjust to the true cost of transacting. Then, a potential market could be created but most likely for DApps that will need more to grow their networks and communities.
