I love Steemit but let's face it, this platform is currently a bit of a dumpster fire.
There are too many posts with poor spelling, grammar and formatting.
There are too many posts that are off topic for the tag and too many people simply spamming popular topics of the day from other web sites.
This recent post by Beograd got me thinking about a fix.
The Proposed Solution
We need to have tags that are moderated. Whales downvoting posts is not enough because the spam onslaught is simply too high.
To be a moderator a user should have a minimum reputation of, say 50 (or whatever seems reasonable). This would help to ensure at least some maturity and understanding of the platform.
Moderators would have the power to bump a post and/or a user right out of a tag without causing that user to lose reputation points.
Moderators would also have to give a reason for the bump.
Bans could be temporary or permanent. Maybe a "three strikes and you are out" rule?
