Good Morning! Hope you are having a #BeautifulSunday! I'm enjoying a nice long weekend. On Friday night I went out to dinner with my family for my 26th birthday (ridiculous). We went to the Walrus + Carpenter, a gastropub specializing in delicious BBQ and smoked meats. I decided to make this post to bring attention to the @STEEMFoodTours contest that I hold on a weekly basis. STEEM Food Tours rewards users for posting restaurant reviews to the STEEM blockchain. Meats & Cheese

We started the night off with a platter of meats and cheeses. The platter consisted of 3 types of cheeses, 2 types of meat some fresh apple slices, honey and jam alongside some toasted raisin bread.

Meats
Salumeria Hot Coppa (from Virginia)
Olli Toscana Salumi (from Virginia)

Cheeses:
Mount Tom (nutty, earthy)
CT Blue (buttery, creamy)
Pimento (house made spicy spread)

KBS

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) on the Walrus + Carpenter's draft beer list. I posted a beer review of the KBS on STEEM a couple weeks ago. This photo was originally posted on Lit, the social media application to earn Mithril tokens.

Favorite Ladies

Two of my favorite ladies joined me for my birthday dinner. Here is a photo of my mother (@sjagoe) holding my niece Madison (@robjagoe & @cjagoe's daughter). Madison is slowly approaching her 2nd birthday and is finally beginning to put some words together.

Burnt Ends

We ordered some Pork Belly Burnt Ends for the table to split. The Walrus + Carpenter has a large BBQ smoker out back so they are always cranking out top notch meats. The Pork Belly Burnt Ends were juicy and tender. They were lathered in a sweet and smokey barbecue sauce and were served with a few bread & butter pickles.

Tennessee Hot Chicken

As a main dish I ordered the Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich. It's served with pickles, coleslaw, chef's spicy sauce and blue cheese dressing. The chicken itself was a nice juicy piece of well-fried meat covered in a finger-lickin' spicy sauce. The bun on the other hand, could've used some improvement. Pecan Pie

For dessert I ordered the Pecan Pie. It was not just any ordinary Pecan Pie... It was a BOURBON CHOCOLATE pecan pie. It was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and topped with a dollop of whipped cream. The crust was thick and flaky like a real homemade crust. The Pecan filling had melted chocolate morsels scattered throughout making it rich and delicious. Although I was completely stuffed by the time dessert came around, I made sure to find room for this.

Overall

The food and service was great and I left feeling completely satisfied. The Walrus + Carpenter is a delicious restaurant with a lot to offer. Check out their menu in the website below. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other menu items in the future. Overall this was a great way to celebrate my 26th trip around the sun.
