My personal comment would be that when exposed to these sites in VR that a small text should appear and maybe explains briefly what you are witnessing and the history behind it.

Nice one, my wife and another friend i know have a habit of checking out streets of a city on google maps before a trip. This will be heaven for them. If there's also an element of real time updates, could be a great app.
