Finally, a weekly shopping coupon app that has great UX and UI with good coupons!

I've never been much of a coupon-clipper but this app is so great that I had to share it.

First Best Thing

The best thing about the Flipp App is that it's actually well-executed, not just a great idea with gimmicky pretty design that is unusable. This is great for people who want to quickly and easily save money on their regular shopping chores.

Second Best Thing

The second best thing is that it includes all the major stores that a normal person shops at, in their day-to-day lives -- stores that you actually want to shop at! A lot of apps or deal sites have a very weak number of shops in their network -- stores that you've never even heard of, but not Flipp. Flipp has all the big guys!

Even if you are not a suburban mom, you will appreciate these stores:

Walmart
Home Depot -- yes you male homeowners, Home Depot, how could you not appreciate being able to buy extra sizes for things that you didn't measure twice?
Rite Aid
CVS
Dicks Sporting Goods
Sams Club
and many more useful stores that you actually already shop at

Who doesn't buy stuff from Walmart?? At least for now before Trump's China tarrifs send us into a trade war, most people still get lots of cheap stuff at Walmart.

Third Best Thing

The third best thing is that the coupons are for things that people actually need and buy, every week. Not some esoteric thing that you'll think about later.
Look at this list of things -- it is a non-vegan's 80% shopping list.

Side note: The only drawback to this app is that it does not promote a vegan lifestyle lol.

The UX and UI is great because

you don't even notice it as you fly through the app. Selecting items is SO easy. There aren't annoying things like Google Material Design where you have to memorize the placement and location of certain buttons as if you should have to learn a new language and use a bunch of annoying spinners to set numbers. Nope, none of that. The UI simply does not get in the way! ✨✨

Intuitive UI and UX

The tiles are easy to select and swipe through, without a bunch of unwanted effects. The user flows and most common use-cases have been tested with real people -- obviously these people did their UX research and didn't design just based on theory or pretty visuals meant to win the web agency some design awards (cough cough😒😒).

Browse for Deals by Store or by Category
Find good, useful search results for non-food item such as "Electric Kettle"
The Browse page (default entry page for the app) has tiles of your stores' flyers and circulars so you can deep dive into your favorite store directly, if you are the type who shops by deals first. The visual design is neutral and does not distract away from the colorful circulars. The home page doesn't attempt any ambitious look-and-feels.

I love this app because it is practical and no-nonsense ... it lets you get your job done without trying to create some unnecessary pointless mood (see my upcoming post, "How to tell when someone is designing their first app") or wasting your time with decorative trendy bs. No ambitious beginner is trying to whip you into a buying frenzy.

Additional useful, practical, real-life features such as:

Splitting your shopping list with a friend (although wouldn't it be more like a partner or spouse or roommate...)

How you use Flipp to save money on your shopping list

First you specify your zip code, so Flipp finds all the stores near you. Let's say that short list includes Walgreens.
From that short list, Flipp displays the coupons. For instance you see canned pineapples, which is on your list or maybe it wasn't on your list but you decided you need it.
You load it to your Walgreens card.
