DEFCOИ: Everybody Dies is a scary and considerably accurate representation inspired by movies such as Dr. Strangelove, Fail-Safe, and especially WarGames. The game was even used in scientific studies:
tl;dw version is that those who played the game (as opposed to reading about nuclear war) were less likely to think they would survive a nuclear war. They were also the ones who became less likely to think that humans would ever start a nuclear war after experiencing the terrifying nature of the game.
