Articles on Steemit live longer than 7 days

7 days after we post an article on steemit we get the payout, if we get one at all. So we tend to forget about most of the articles on steemit after a week. There is however a life after the 7 days for steemit articles.

My cointiply review on 1st page of google search

About two months ago I wrote an article on steemit about a website called cointiply. Cointiply is a website that offers many possibilities to earn bitcoins. It was a kind of review where I explained the site. The post wasn't utterly successful on steemit. It made me 2 to 3 sbd at the time. However I was very surprised when the other day I searched on Google „cointiply review“. I found my article on the 1st page of Google search! I didn't earn much on steemit with this article but it brought me around 40 referrals for steemit and I'm still earning referral earnings thanks to that.

Steemit is SEO on steroids

When you look at the Alexa rank of steemit it is very low. The lower the better. For the content on steemit itself the high ranking is a big advantage. In addition to that, the written articles are transformed in SEO friendly markup. The title you choose for your article not only will become the < title > of the html code, it will also be the < h1 > title.
When you use subtitles with ##subtitle it becomes < h2 >with ###subtitle it becomes < h3 >. The format is perfect for good SEO. Comments and upvotes may even additionally help your article. Even the images are SEO friendly. The title of your image becomes the „alt“ of the image.

How to make your article SEO friendly?

I'm not a SEO specialist but I have some knowledge that will really help you to bring your articles to high rankings on Google. Before you start at all, you need to know what your article is about and how you would search for search a content if you were on google. Put yourself into the shoes of the guy who wants to find your content.

An example: You want to show how to make a web banner for free. You have the option to call your article „I will show you a way to make a banner for free“ or „How to make a web banner for free?“. If you wanted to learn how to make a web banner for free, you would certainly enter the second question into Google. This is the reason why you should always give the title to your article that fits best what somebody would enter into Google when searching for a certain content.

Use subtitles, images and links

With steemit this title that you have chosen will automatically be doubled as „title“ and also as „h1“ tag in terms of html code. This is great in terms of SEO. In the title sentence you will certainly find several words. Longer titles are better by the way. You should use these words several times in your article. Mainly in the subtitles or in the naming of images. Use these words as well in links or throughout the text. However it should not sound over repetitive because it might get punished by google. Don't forget to use the best fitting steemit tags as well.

Using these few rules will allow you to make a big leap in the google search engine with your Steemit articles.

Brilliant piece of work @achim03. Such a good and valuable read.

Ive been also wondering why most people treats posts older than 7 days as a dead articles.

Im present on Steemit partly because I know that whatever content I will create here will be easy to find in the future (via google). For me that's the main difference between steem and for instance facebook :)

I didn't earn much on steemit with this article but it brought me around 40 referrals for steemit and I'm still earning referral earnings thanks to that.

How did you check that?

Steemit is SEO on steroids

BINGO! I totally agree.

Comments and upvotes may even additionally help your article.

I personally think that comments are the most important. Even if google is not yet recognizing them as a sign of interests in topic then soon will. Creating post with many comments increase your chance of ending up in top10 google searches a lot.

Great stuff man!

Piotr
