A gift exchange will help steemit iron out our Shipping Logistics and we can find out how easy it is for steemit users in the USA to mail and ship items to Africa, or from Australia to Peru, and find out about all the wonderful issues and holdups that occur along the way! :D We Need to have our own Steemit Shipping company like I was talking about in my Solar Powered Delivery Boat Project post . I also had a talk with @mughat in the steemspeak.com discord chat (run by @fyrtsikken and inertia ) where @Mughat made the valuable point that decentralized shipping service will be very useful for many of the reasons especially on Steem Blockchain. This is probably related to why Fedex and big Shipping Container and transport companies are looking into Blockchains along with Port Authorities. Amazon buying more stock shares of FedEx and the idea that Amazon would have their own shipping service makes me wonder if we could make steem even more useful than it is now!
Well a Steemit Secret Santa Holiday Gift Exchange would show us all what happens when Steemit users start sending gifts to each other and we will see what shipping routes are slow and which ones work best etc. This will show us how an openbazaar type system for selling items on Steem will turn out. I think it would be obvious to move forward and fund/support/upvote the @Steemporium idea by @jonny-clearwater and make a sort of openbazar for steemit where we can even compete with shopify by allowing a referral program so when we get people to click our friends referal link and buy items from that shop then it keeps track and pays us a commission! We should start exploring these things now and see what happens when steemit users start sending packages! :D Reddit style Secret Santa Gift Exchange for Steemit can bring us all sorts of Publicity! Reddit has shown the way forward and has blazed some of the trails for us so why not use what they've already built? I believe we do need to organize some serious projects to port all successful Reddit programs like this over to Steemit! This would be a really cool idea to impliment over Steemit, and allow everyone to get a little more involved merging our online lives with the physical. As you stated, this would be a big help at figuring out the best shippimg methods to various countries, and remove a kind of wall that exists between large users, witnesses, developers, and regular users as well!
