RE: Facebook vs Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago

so glad you're loving Steemit! It is so awesome to hear people are excited about writing and being on the platform. I've never been a huge fan of facebook - had an account here and there over the years but it seems very shallow and fake over there. People only sharing smiling, filtered selfies and exciting moments - life is so much more and on here I love how people talk about the good stuff but also the hard stuff, the struggles, what they do in the real world to make it a better place. Steemit really renewed my faith in the collective.
and I totally agree with you here:

There are many reasons, but I think the primary reason is that I don't know anyone here in real life! I only judge people by their content and their comments, and I build a picture of them in my mind.

Yes, I think this anonymity is key. I really hope they keep it. I'm trying to help set up a classical music community here on Steemit. At the moment, it is pretty much non-existent. However, I am in two minds about it, I like that I don't know anyone here, but if Classical Musicians come over in droves it could turn into Facebook again...

I agree. I think they will keep it - I mean, a ton a users are here just for the anonymity, they must know they'd lose a large population if they started acting like facebook.
You have an awesome idea! I love to listen to classical music though I'm not musically skilled. lol I'd love to see a classical community on here - best of luck to you!

Slowly slowly, we build it! Check out #classical-music and our dischord. We already have one orchestra @musicapoetica and a handful of players and listeners!

awesome! I'll check it out!
if you build it they will come!

sorry couldn't help myself lol

Ha ha, if only it were that easy!
