Right now there is a rush to join steem and after joining post a few articles , upvote others and earn some steem power. So people are posting and up voting whatever they feel like. Very much like facebook, only thing is that facebook does not pay you for creating content. The reason being facebook is from a very different technology era.
I think over a period of time people will have an idea about how much they can earn from steemit. I believe, in the long run only people who make quality content will make money as is in the case of google adsense. When google adsense was new, it was so easy to open a blog and get it approved, but over a period of time most got banned or failed to make money due to lack of quality content.
So even on this platform there will be some who will earn a lot while most will make a few cents here and there.
I agree that the content matters but it all adds up , especially if the currency goes up than all those pennies will hopefully turn into dollars.
